I know when I put on a pipe and open up the airbox of my XB12 I'll need to install a race ECM. I've read about the TFI units, do you still need to run the Race ECM if you use the TFI? I just don't want to buy the Race ECM if I won't need it, and I don't want to spend extra money on the TFI if the Race ECM will be enough. |

I'd go with the race ECM I sell both but I like the "plug(and reset the TPS) and play" of the race ECM. |

Forgot to ask about the Power Commander III. Same question, which of the 3 is the better to get? If you get the PC III do you need the Race ECM? If you get the TFI do you need the Race ECM? Or is the Race ECM the way to go? |

Phantom5... - Can't speak from direct PCIII experience on this bike although I'm sure the Stock ECM is fine. Keep in mind you will need a 4-wire HiPo O2 sensor and some Dyno time - No, you don't need both. the TFI was originally designed to work with the Stock ECM. Some peeps use both although it's not required. The TFI only adds more fuel. - Race ECM is def. most 'plug 'n play' as Dave mentioned, I'm thinking of trying one out in place of my TFI. I'm in a good place right now but getting tired of tweaking. damn surging will not go away, always seems to come back. and i'm patient. |

Typeone, Is the PCIII worth the money? I see your from Worcester,Ma. Most of my family is in Brockton, and in Marlborough. I have a few buddies in Brockton that give me some lip about my Buell. I've made a promise that if I come up this late fall I'll be bringing the bike. |

Shred, unfortunately I can't say. I haven't installed one on my XB and I can't remember all the ins and outs off-hand. There are lots of great posts from others experience in the BadWeb archives. I installed one on my last bike, Honda F4i, and loved it. Little easier to plug in a map for the zillions of duplicate setups most guys run on the Japanese bikes. Plus most shops know the Dynojet stuff so its easier to find someone to tune with you. /Edit: forgot to add, yes, i'm in Worcester, been here for like 9 years now we like it. working in Boston sucks though. loooong commute. i barely see any Buells around here. Its funny, people give you crap about having a 'Hardly' but I get so many questions and comments on the XB. People always walk over when i'm gassing up or whatever and ask what the hell it is. guy yeseterday was just staring at it while i was talking, mesmerized. hahaa. kept saying, 'its so short, i love the look, its so short!' love this bike. if you visit the area there are some sweet roads going west of worcester. mohawk trail area west of 91 on 2 rocks.
