Went on a good 250 mile trip today and definitely noticed I need a new seat. Will the factory "custom" Buell seat (part #52319-02Y) be comfortable enough for 3 hour long trips? Is there a handle bar raiser? I would like to raise my bars another inch or so? |

Heli bars moves the bars up an inch and 1.5 inches back. Available from our sponsor Al at American Sportbike. Look in the sponsor section. |

Dan, I've got the custom seat and the heli bars, definitely help out a lot with the ergos of the bike. The lower foot pegs from the Lightnings help a lot as well. I did numerous 400 mile days with the stock setup and was a little cramped at the end, bit nothing major. Haven't had a chance to do a ton of miles with the mods I made, but they are great and I think will really help with longer days. My only complaint: the new seat is a bit more slick than what I'd like for aggressive riding. I've just been switching the stock and custom one depending on what kind of riding I'll be doing for a given day. Alex |

I went on a 200 mile trip yesterday. I went to the mountains on hwy 60. in Dahlonega, GA. It was great. I love my bike, but the seat left me wanting a Corbin. Can someone with the Corbin please post how you like it? Thanks. http://www.corbin.com/buell/xb9r.shtml |

I have a Helibars unit (from Daves) and it's a well-made piece that installs easily and works well--moves the bars back and up (great for those of us with short arms). It uses the stock brake lines and cables, etc., but the bend in the brake line fitting makes it tight to rotate the brake lever down as much as I like... |

Alex when I first got the custom seat I didn't like how I slid on it either. I took it off in fact. Put it back on for the RANE ride I think and decided I'd just have to get used to it. Took a bit of mental effort but now the Custom seat is the only seat I'd use for any kind of riding. The easy movement on the Custom is better in the twisties. Think of more like riding a horse and having to use your legs in the cut outs of the bike to hold you where you want. Try stopping exercises and using your knees as much as possible instead of your arms to hold you in position. As it becomes more natural you'll like the results. |
