I know I should search...BUT... I want expressed opinions.

I have a 99 X1, that I am damn mear in love with..

BUT, the more time I spend b/sing wiht my buddy at the local HD/Buell, the more I am looking at the XBs....

BUT, I dont want a XB9_..I do want a 12...

I am looking for those that have had tubers, adn switched to a XB, what they like, dont like...

I am 5'9 w/ a 32" inseam, 175, athletic(not that most care, but ti plays a part in riding position and comfort....

which is the one you consider more fun, less of a pain... you know the drill.... I havent ridden one yet, as I havent even figured out if I can afford it....

So...

Sorry abotu the lack of search use... though I haev read a bit on here....

I had and X1.

The XB chassis is much better, fit and finish is worlds better. The X1 is a cool looking bike, but the parts are not really integrated.

The bike is very small, and not as comfortable as the X1, but it turns as well (some say better) as a Japanese bike.

You will not get more power from an XB, but the tranny is better and I think the fuel injection is worked out more.

My biggest disappointment was riding an XB12 and finding that it didn't feel like it made more power than my X1. But it corners MUCH easier and feels lighter.

I had a '99 X1, loved it.

I now have an '05 XB9SX love it.

I have rode many XB12's love em.

Here's the deal and it is about what Spatten mentioned. The fit and finish is not comparable. The level of refinement is hands down XB. The X1 was great, but the XB's are way great. I would ride one a decent amount to get the feel for it. But be careful, if you ride it you will want it.

test ride one and you will know. after my first test ride, i NEEDED another test ride. asked to have a full tank, and went out for an hour and a half. when i returned the demo bike i knew. i must own an XB12. all other thoughts and concerns became secondary. i gave up sleeping, thought about the Buell continuously. just HAD TO HAVE An XB.

Had an M2, traded it in for the 9sx. I enjoy some great memories of the M2, and look at them nostagically, but don't miss the bike relative to the 9sx. I don't think there is *anything* the M2 did better then the 9sx can do. I was expecting a good tradeoff, to give some stuff up to get other advantages, but have a net gain. 4000 miles after the tradin, I am amazed to discover that I simply had a win in every category.

I'm not even convinced the M2 had any more low end grunt. It probably did, but I don't notice it missing.

And I have 4000 miles on the 9sx now. In terms of maintenance, I have changed the oil twice, adjusted the primary once, changed the tranny fluid once, did the initial TPS reset, and adjusted the clutch once. At the end of 10,000 miles, I have every reason to expect that "maintenance list" to just include two more fluid changes.

You don't want to *know* what I had to do to the M2 in a similar timeframe.

I think you will love it and just need to decide what riding postion you want.
Riding a Firebolt back to back with a lightning is your best bet. You can then find out if you like the upright position and lack of wind protection at high speed of the S
Verse the more racelike position with better aerodynamics of the R

Because the rest of the bike is identical, the 2 will perform the same, so it comes down to your riding comfort

I own them both, tubers and XBs. As much as you love your X1, it will end up being dust covered in your garage if you get the XB. While tubers are fun, XBs are MAGIC! I want to get a XB9SX as well but every time I wipe the dust off of my M2 the City X will have to wait....................What's the moral of this sad story? If you can, keep the X1 and get the XB as well, if not DO NOT RIDE THE XB. Just a half days rental on the XB will ruin your perception of FUN on a X1.
But that's just my opinion and I'm stickin' to it!

Well, the "Homecoming" at my local dealer is tomorrow, I guess I will have to talk troy into letting my jack a "r" for a couple hours....

If Iam able to, I would prefer to keep my tuber..
But I think it will come down to money, as I wont sell or trade one for the other...my X1 has to much personality adn soul.....
