After three years of trying I finally succeeded!!! All I can say is Credit Unions rock!

I went to the dealer today to have a looksee and there were no R's only a couple black 12s's. I reconized the first one, a 2004 model and went and greeted her as I always do when I'm there. I looked over at the S next to her and suddenly felt a strange vibe from deep within me. The salesman came over and offered assistance. I said I was just checking the bike out and he asked me if I liked the low. I said "excuse me?" "Oh yeah", he said "that's a low". I've never seen a low in person and after he said that I went "Doh!" There in front of my eyes was the low profile seat and a yellow shock was nestled below. Out of curiosity I threw a leg over and... OH MY FREAK'N GOD SHE FITS ME LIKE A GLOVE!

I always felt scrunched on the standard height S. The bars were just too close & I was too upright. On the SCG, I don't know if it's the seat or what but the reach to the bars feel perfect. The shorter distance between the seat & pegs tuck my legs under me very much like on the Firebolt. My bad hip LOVES it! I'm a short guy between 5'7 & 5'8 but I have a 30" inseam and can flat foot a standard height S just fine but this bike felt so good. I always found the R to be way more comfortable than the S but this low is far more comfortable than the R!

It's funny, I spent three years trying to figure out which would be my perfect bike, The R or the S. On the very last day I found the perfect bike and it was neither of the ones I was looking for.

It's like the elves snuck into my bedroom & took my measurements whilst I slept then built the bike just for me and had it ready & waiting at the dealership to greet me when I walked through the door.

To make this long story short, I'm picking her up this Saturday.

Yes, Credit Unions do rock. Got my bike financed through one. Got a nice low interest rate too.

Koz, you are 100% right, you are never to old to be educated.
I have just learned the importance of wording myself correctly.

What I "should" have said was:
Thanks to all you badwebers, I have learned most of the things a first time Buell owner & particularly a first time XB owner should know. Such as don't rev the engine when it idles. Make sure idle rpm is set at 1050 when fully warm. If I should ever get a "clunk" in the front end I know the possible causes & what to look for and the remedies.
I do not have to ask such questions as what oil or what tires or what mods etc.
I've absorbed alot from you guys & gals and I look forward to absorbing more.

Oh, I also know to get TFM! heh heh, I just had to throw that in.

Court, I don't think I'm ever gonna calm down. You think I'm excited now? Wait till Saturday.

Tell the elves they're welcome here anytime & ask them if they'll accept beer & oysters as payment.

Not to worry.....I thought, about 1992 when I was bemoaing the last RS1200 made and scratching my head at how cool the NEW RSS-1200 looked, that I was gonna calm down.

Almost did, but then....kapow and the excitement builds again.

Ya just never know....soe far it's just gotten more exciting year after year.....

I don't frickin' believe it you bestardo! You wait until I move to NYC, and then I'm the darn last guy to know, heck I have to find out trolling the badweb, and not even in my legit trolling section!(Tuber for those of you modern type guys that don't know me) So we still don't get to ride together!
This month, anyways, unless u travelin' cross country.
I did, however, have dinner tonight with Court, and Henrik and the Roadthing, a bunch of real "class act guys" Needless to say, we had way too much fun...
A 12. Interesting. And what have I been saying all this time"oh, don't get the 12, it's not like you've gotten used to the power of that punched out sporty..."
I guess you're going to have to go to that wheelie school now, if you just get used to it you'll really save on underwear!
PBPBPBPBPB...CIAO, Ray

The Sporty's still here Ray. As soon as I get her running she'll find a nice place on Craig's list. Sorry I didn't tell ya but I didn't want you to do something stupid like ride cross country just so we could go riding. I KNOW the thought has entered your mind after seeing this post. If you did that, Erika would kill me and I don't want to die. I just got a Buell damn it, I need to live!

Now that I think about it, I did kinda sorta hint at it. Remember when I said I have something to do in the city this Saturday? What on God's green earth would I be doing in the city??? Hmmmm?

Sorry man, just ribbing ya. I wouldn't be me if I let an opportunity like that slip on by.

Well, Court had only briefly met me once, and Henrik and Roadthing had never met me , so were completely unsuspecting, poor guys.
I did kinda wonder what the heck you'd be doing in the city, I think the last time we went there together, you rode your sporty home in the rain! From Dudley Perkins! Brand spankin' new!
I suspect you may have rain in the forecast for Saturday!
What the heck is it about pickin' up our new bikes and rain?
And whatever the heck is wrong with you? Apologizing for insulting me? Are you feeling well? Running a fever? A little under the weather? Not raining there yet, is it?
