but if all I wanted to was the speed limit, I would have bought a Blast.

Gunny, are you makin fun of me?

Response 1: Once again I am amazed at how people can turn a harmless anecdotal story into a bashing of an irresponsible reckless m/cycle rider.

Opto, I'm right with ya on this one.

Deerhunter: You are not alone my brother. Yes, I too will launch from the occasional stoplight, twist that throttle on the open road, and even take a corner at above the posted speedlimit. Gotta feed that little devil within from time to time.

This however is NOT to be confused with activities such as in traffic stunting or dragracing with the kids downtown. Reasonable intelligence should discern the difference.}

I'm with ya Deerhunter. Heck, I was being one heck of a hooligan on the demo rides. I certainly didn't buy this bike to be ridden like a cruiser.

Jackass here.
My favorite are the ricer-boyz in their little cars with the big wing on the back and the buzz can exhaust.
Way fun!

Geez guys, a blast will exceed the posted speed limit. It's not that bad. It's even fun in the corners too. Someone could get a complex.

i guess i didn't mean to sound as harsh as i did with the situation. i have fun to. one thing to remember though is the reputation of the motorcyclist in the eyes of of the majority (non-motorcyclists) mostly i don't care what they think, but in some instances (when new laws are passed) we need there backing if we want to keep things the way we like them, or change them for the better.

when an article is in the paper about a biker, what do you want them to remember? the guy that zipped past there house while they were raking leaves going twice the speed limit? or the guy that slowed down when is terrier got to close to the road. you never know who see's you ride. remember that. i love to rip down some road that has some nice turns. but i guess i try and be reasonable.

p.s. i probably would have kept up with the harley rider also.

Oh yeah!! I tend to ignore them, but if they keep pushing, they become fair game, so long as no cops are around.

It's especially fun when they have their girl friends in the car. hehehehehe

I do not advocate street racing. If you do it, it's on you.

Blake no say exceed speed limit make jackass. Otherwise Blake still jackass. No matter, Blake still jackass anyway. :/

Blake still say go to race track if want to gain ego for have fast motorcycle. Start race in last place, pass one person in race, ego feel very good. Pass more persons, ego feel even better. But if not pass anyone, get lapped many time instead, you still try ride fast in correct place and that make you very smart, so ego still feel okay. If crash while try race, you come back here, tell big heroic story, ego still feel good. : )

If ride like jackass on street, crash or see other rider crash, end up in hospital, you then feel like big fool. Then realize ego for fast motorcycle very silly. Blake glad you not too much jackass and not in hospital. Trust Blake, that no fun, catheter no fun, suppository pill insert up private place for relieve one week no crap no fun. Blake learn lesson, almost die, no more ride like jackass.

Blake must stop eat Sushi and Chinese buffet.

I'd like to think I'm smarted than the average jackass.
When in the mountains not too long ago I rode with a faster jackass than myself.
It was much fun.
When the faster jackass looked over his shoulder and left me like I was sitting still, I let him go faster than me as I was not wanting to go beyond my comfort zone.
After the ride the faster jackass told me I was a good rider for keeping up as long as I did, and had the good sense not to try and keep up after the pace was moved up a notch or two.
After that was said my ego was lifted way high, as I admire that faster jackass more than most any other jackass I've ever met.
That being said, I don't drag race on public streets against the ricers, but in the mountains...

Jackass not so much person as state of mind. Even on race track sometime jackass happen. Some call race track jackass like "see the red mist." Become too aggressive, in mind think "I am superman" but then cause much horrible crashing and bad feeling, cause not superman, just jackass.

I hear ya Blake, point taken.
Jackass is a state of mind.
So I do admit to being jackass some times, mostly out of frustration rather than ego.
My ego has been "set right" too many times in my youth to be very large any more.
One thing I have learned about ego, when I leave mine at home, I tend to have a much better time.
More funner!

Try riding in South Florida. The kids with the ricer cars love to start $hit. $hit...they shot 2 fast 2 stupid down here. Had I-75 West, the only fast way to get to the West coast, shut down for days at a time for like 3 months. All for that crappy movie and to market NOS: )

I pulled up to a pool hall one night in Ft. Lauderdale and as soon as I took my helmet off I had three kids tryin' to get me to race. One of them wanted to race me in his Ford Fucus. Was actin' all tough 'cause he said he ran a 13 second 1/4 mile. I could have won some money, but it's not worth the expense.

Idiots!
