Rode the XB hard today in 80 degree temps. Fan did not come on at all.

I now deem the experiment an unqualified success.

Good bye to the rear cooling fan. RIP!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? I remember the thread but I don't recall
you wanting to remove the fan.
I did like the way it looked.

He isn't removing the fan, just cutting down the need for the fan to operate.

Right, I am not going to take out the fan as it MAY need to come on some day. I AM glad I don't have to listen to it when I shut the bike down.

I did post pics about a month ago. Thread still exists in archives I bet.

Looks very cool BTW- Two nostrils are better than one!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Hello Bruce,
I wonder if you might be so kind as to repost the photos.
I can not find them using the search engine in the knowledge vault.
Is it just me, or has anyone else found the search feature to be rather ineffective ?

This is the right side scoop that Brucelee has. They are also available in unpainted glassfibre.

Badweb price to the USA is approximately US$255 for carbon and US$190 for glassfibre.

I also have the right side air scoop from Trojan Horse. I haven't gotten to ride it yet since I installed it, but it looks sweet. I painted both scoops silver to match my frame, muffler and windscreen.

Bruce...glad to see your experiment worked (considering the amount of cr@p you had to take for it) ; )

"Bruce...glad to see your experiment worked (considering the amount of cr@p you had to take for it) ; )"

Thanks. I was looking at the bike again the other day and I would certainly recommend to Buell that they adopt this second scoop.

It really makes the bike look better from all angles and it REALLY REALLY is nice not having to explain to folks at the local cafe's etc, what the H.. is that fan noise!

Of course, it is a very good thing that the rear cylinder is not getting so hot as to need some emergency cooling! That can't help but be good for long term engine health!

Hey Matt-

I'm interested in the fiberglass right side air scoop. How much does it cost to ship to the States (Michigan)?

Thanks,

-Brad

Is that thing compatible with the LSL dampener, or do they touch?

Shipping to the US would cost around US$35 I think.

The scoop would not foul the LSL steering damper at all.

If you have either LSL or Sato crash protecters fitted you would have to 'adapt' the scoop to clear the crash bobbins.

Hey Matt-

Thanks for the update on shipping cost. I'm interested, so what is the next step. I've never gone through the process of an international order.

I don't know why that is not a stock item. It really looks great and appears functional as well.

Americanrice : How did you paint the left, original, one did it need etched first.

I quite fancy getting the right side and painting them to match the frame.

Looking forward to your pictures.

Ya'll should have seen all the flack the company got for the scoops on the tube framed Buells. That may very well be why the minimalist design of these scoops on the XBs. I think they were are listening.
