I have a very slow oil leak on my XB9S. The oil oozes out of the hole in the bottom of the timing cover on the right side gear case cover where the cam position sensor wires come out.(Arrow)
When I was on the Buell Running the Ridge Adventure, we stopped at Tilleys. The mechanic there suggested that I had a leaking cam seal.
Has anyone had this problem?
How did you fix it?
Thanks
leak

i have seen a blast wiring hole come up porous where the seal didn't help when it was changed, but i would change the seal. it can be done w/out removing the cover.
ps i would use the stock rivets from hd on the timing cover. they are silver but dont come loose and retain the ball in the back so as not to fall off into the timming cup. that is always bad. you can always paint them black.

I just noticed the exact same thing on my XB9SX this afternoon. The oil seems to be seeping out along the wire.

I'd like to know how to fix this also - I'm about 120 miles from the nearest Buell dealer, so if I'm hoping only shade-tree level skills are needed.

I was thinking the timing cover would have to come off. Guess I better look at my parts and maintenance manuals and see what I can find out

**edit** Oops just noticed this is a four year old thread...
