I'm thinking about renting Talladega or Nashville super speedway for a day this coming spring!!!I'll look into some numbers we need about 15 to 20 people so we can have people working the corners for safty!!!We would rotate riding and working the corners.Have a contest of "THE FASTEST LAP" but most of all have a good time!!!!! |

Wouldn't that be Fin expensive. And if you do that rent a road course lik VIR mid-ohio or whatever other tracks in the area. Road Atlanta? |

I'm interested depending on the price. That sounds like a blast. However, I would want some twisty stuff. Are these road courses or ovals? |

Great idea, but I can't help wondering about the numbers. Can't wait to see what your cost per rider is when the fact finding is done and you do the math. |

Talladega on my bike would be scary fast. Most likely scary expensive too. |

Talladega is definitely not a Buell-oriented track. You'd be on the rev limiter half the time. Any chance of bagging a road coarse instead? |

Ahhh...Like the "Streets of Willow" (short and tight) is to "Willow Springs"(large and scary fast). Hope it works out for you all. I just would like to know what the costs turn out to be. |

Yeah just like that. If I can get a hold of Shred before tonight I'll see what I can find out. At the very least I'll see him tonight at the 3%er's meeting. |

Road Atlanta would be awesome. I road that track before the AMA races the other weekend. I kept saying to myself that it would be a total blast flying around that track. |

Jennings GP has a great track in Jennings Florida. You should not have to hard getting a track day at this location. They have the corner workers and they also have the medical team if needed. The track is located south the Georgia border off Highway 75. Have done several track days there myself, hope someday to hit other tracks, Barber is on my wish list. |

Yeah, Ivan may pass through before the weekend though but then there may be trees down and a whole bunch of fun stuff on the roads. |

I rode two laps around Talladega on saturday. It was bumpy and rough. It would be tense at high speeds. I got up to 90 for about 20 seconds................. |

Last time I checked, the owners of little ole Oak Hill Raceway were charging $2,500 per day to rent that track, no ambulance, no corner workers. An ambulance on standby with a med tech and a driver runs something like $50/hr. So about $3,000/day. With 20 guys you'd be looking at $150 each. Reasonable. At OHR on track days, the riders behind you act as the corner workers. If a track has no blind high speed corners, with just ten or so riders on the track at any time there really should be little need for corner workers. Keep a red and green flag at the pit exit and if someone goes down and is on the track or in a dangerous spot, put up the red flag. My track days go something like... Arrive, unload, prep bike (fuel, oil, tire pressure...), survey track, struggle into leathers/boots/gloves/helmet, do warm-up lap, fifteen or so hot laps, cool down lap about 30 minutes on the bike. Pit, remove now sweat-drenched gloves/helmet, and rest, check over the bike, add fuel. Eat something, drink water. Head back out, warm-up lap, twenty or so hot laps, cool down lap, about 40 minutes on the bike. Pit, collapse onto ground. Rest, guzzle some water, struggle to peel off drenched leathers/boots rest, go to lunch. Return from lunch, rinse repeat. If you really start to push it, you will be wrung-out and used-up after five sessions at OHR. You'll be sore the next day. |

No, I am not currently involved with a BRAG group. I sent an email to Glitch about a year ago regarding joining his group out of Stone Mountain. Are you part of that group as well? I am still interested in doing that but I live on the other side of Atlanta and it is difficult for me to get to Stone Mountain during the week. Especially if the meetings are at 7 which is what I believe Glitch had told me. I'm sure you know what Atlanta traffic is like. Whats the name of that BRAG Group and do you have a thread on the Storm Front I can check out? If you guys plan group rides and track days and such I would certainly like to participate. Give me a little more information and maybe I can figure something out with my schedule. |
