What kind of fuel mileage to you get on your XB9/12? The EPA rating of 50/65 seems a bit laughable, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to get 55 mpg on the freeway. I'm also curious as to the difference between the 9 and the 12. |

my 9 gets 44-49, and that was over a pass, twisties, and straights all mixed in. and several 100mph+ stretches... I tracked it on a 700 mile trip to canadia and back plus I have a PCIII with a custom fuel map so... (Message edited by misato on September 10, 2004) |

Ditto Misato. Doesn't make much of a difference what kind of riding I do unless it's 4000rpm cruising for hours at a time. 45+ mpg. 2003 XB9R |

Mister Mild here has averaged 53 mpg for 7400 miles. High of 60, low of 42. For those who want overkill on my XB9S gas mileage, click on: Prof's Web Page |

My 12R is pretty consistent at ~45mpg. I've seen as low as 42mpg and as high as ~55mpg. Mike '04 XB12R |

I have a 9S and I average 47-49 mpg. Pretty much the same as Spike on the highs and lows. Most of us are pretty much high 40's low 50's on the 9's that I have noticed. I couldn't tell you about a 12. Rich |

2003 XB9R average about 45...however on some trips going 55-60 in top gear I have gotten close to 55. But that is babying 'r in a big way...not nearly as much fun as dropping in a gear and running hard. |

Did you notice in the current Cycle World shoot-out, they claimed 36 MPG for their XB12S? That's the lowest I've ever seen anywhere. |

Yes and the whole article was so biased. Isn't this the one where the Buell came in third in lowest time around the road course and they spent the whole article criticizing its handling. Turds. |

Did you notice in the current Cycle World shoot-out, they claimed 36 MPG for their XB12S? That's the lowest I've ever seen anywhere. If you really hammered it 100% of the time I could believe that easily. I know on our track day Dave had his light come on after 3-4 sessions..maybe 80 miles tops. With my X1 I could get 55 or so if I just took it easy & rode at 65-70. But start riding a bit more spirited & it would dip into the 30's. So far with my R1 the best I have seen was 46 mpg & the worst was 29...that was track day. Avg is right around 36-37. |

The 12S does get the lowest of all four variations due to it's riding position and lack of a front fairing. I was getting 41 average on mine. Since installing the Crossroads bars, my average has risen to 43. I did see a hair over 50 on a freeway cruise though... |

I've been getting 50-55 mpg on my 12S...mostly commuter miles on the freeway at 55-75 mph. I've only had it a month (1500 miles), though, and haven't had the chance to hit the twisties... |
