Hello All, First post here, although I have been lurking for a while. I have been lusting after a Buell XB for a while now. I am just waiting for a used to come down to my price range. How does this one look for the price? http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/5/6/70480156.htm

What is the airbox cover he is talking about. How bad could this be? Also it looks like a piece near the license plate holder is missing. Would that be hard or pricey to replace?

Basicall I am looking at either a XB9 or Ducati Monster. I want a torquey naked street bike. How does this deal look? Any info(persuasion) you have to offer me would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

As far as most of your questions, I don't know the answers, I do know however that the airbox cover is what looks like a conventional gas tank, the gas actually being in the frame on these bikes.

Also take a good like at the rear tire if you see the bike in person. It looks suspect to me -

Looks like it's had the pasta strainer removed from the rear - no big deal.
As for the rear tyre you are buying used so it will likely be "used". It's a D208 if you didn't know and is not matched with the front which is a D207. Could be a problem I dunno haven't run that combination on the Buell but will say my GSXR sucked big time with that combination.
I think they are talking that the airbaox cover is dulled due to wear or maybe a crash damage where they haven't been able to get the shine back in it after repairs. The location of the damage will tell what it is. It has sliders on the frame so get them to take those off as they could be coving some surprises.

Looks pretty tidy to me. Price wise I wouldn't know. Never seen one second hand here in Aust so the used market value is undefined at the moment.

I've never seen those sliders before.

J.B. Weld formed into something that looks like sliders?

Those sliders come from somewhere in Europe. I have seen them before. Bike looks pretty good, and the price is great. I love my 9.

The Duc if you haven't ridden one is a very nice bike, if you have then you know what I mean.
The XB if you haven't ridden one handles better (IMHO), if you have then you know what I mean.

If you haven't ridden a Duc, you'll have to find someone that'll let you try their's. If you haven't ridden an XB you in luck, go to your nearest dealer and do a demo, you may even get to try out all four.

If the signal have been changed and some other mods like the sliders and dull spot, it might of went down. Make sure nothing is broken, bent, etc. Not a bad price if it checks out. You can find air box covers on ebay all the time for next to nothing. Good Luck!
