My HD dealer installed a factory race kit in my 12R when it arrived and never set the bike up properly, TPS and what not. So the bike was ridden from start to present (1500 miles) like this. After the bike wouldn't start this spring they hauled it in and got it running for me for no charge (gee thanks). Shortly after I expressed concern that the bike was running hot (lean) since the fan would be running in 55 degree weather??? While the bike sat at the shop for a week, they refused to do anything, but the service manager took her for a spin and "she seems to run great". Idiot!! After comparing it to another 12, one of the salesman couldn't believe how slow it was and the lack of any throttle response.

My question is has the bike been damaged or the life been shortened by the dealers lack of what the hell ever their excuse is?

I was about ready to sell the bike, it was so slow and boring.

Any comments are appreciated.

I know your frustration. Mine came with various stripped torx and allen bolts. Also came with scratches in the bodywork. One torx bolt was so tight(and stripped), that I couldn't get it out. Spent some time and money on that one. My idle was set way too low also. I could go on, but it pisses me off too much.

Only thing I will suggest is a tps reset and ignition timing check at a different dealer. Get the bike back, check the oil and ride it's nuts off.

It's a strong motor, at 1500 miles you ain't done nothin' yet. Just keep up the oil and check the nuts and bolts and ride its arse off.

After cooling off a bit, I figured out what it is with these HD dealers, they are too busy selling 20K-30K HDs to "more" important customers to worry about a couple of 10K buells. My local dealer has cleared out almost the entire inventory of HDs. What are you gonna do?

What are you gonna do?
Do as much as you can yourself.
Find the nearest compitent dealer and take it to them for the Digital Technician stuff. Should only have to take it to them every 10000 or so.

Find another dealer if you can or

Find a local independent Buell mechanic, as hard as that might be to do or

Buy the shop manual and get studying.

It IS a shame that so many of the dealers mechanics are so bloody incompetent on these Buells.
