What is the problem with using a power commander with the XB?

There isn't one made for the XB.
They've been using the one made for the X1.

But are there any functional problems? Such as dose the ECM "fight" with it making it difficult to set?

Beats me, but there are a number of folks on the BWB trying to create custom maps to get the power commander to function with the XB's. Check the knowledge vault.

Mine seems to work just fine with the bike.

The PCII works just fine on the XB.

The XB's have the same fuel injection system that is on the X1's and S3's.

In my case, it works better than the race kit ECM. Mostly because I can't find a dealer that knows how to reset the TPS.

The thing most here seem to struggle with is getting the bike mapped. It takes a dyno with an A/F setup to really dial it in, and most have not done that (including me).

But like I said, it works great.

Just because it doesn't say XB*R/S on the box, well, I don't see what difference that makes.

You can pick them up at very reason'able prices on the internet. I paid $68 brand new for mine.

PCII: PowerCOmmander 2. They don't make a III for Buells.

I bought mine on eBay, directly from K&N.

I dunno if they have anymore or not...

You might also checkout the TCI box, a few people have achieved good results when it was incorporated into their setup.

There is a PCIII for the X1 that works fine on the XB, I've got one. Problem is Dynojet discontinued making it. I've also got a kick map for it, it's a map by Farracci floating around on this bord and you really have to use the Hi-performance O2 sensor to make it work.

Part# is 803-211 PCIII,99-02 Buell X1

Dave, what kind of performance gain did you get from the PCIII and HiPO2, and what other mods are done to your bike at this point? Still running the Latus?

Bryan, did you ever find out the answer to your question posted August last year
Anyone know a crossover P/N for an aftermarket O2 sensor that will fit a XB?
Can't find in the archives any info that confirms the XB's use the Bosch 12014.
An OEM P/N for the XB12 fuel injector would be real nice too...if anyone can help, thanks in advance.

Bryan,
Still running the Latus, only other mods are the K&N, XB12 Airbox lid, & PCIII Powercommander.
Haven't dyno'd it, just seat of the pants, but I could really feel a difference with the Farracci Map. One of these days I'll get it on the dyno.
Oh yea, had it out to Nelson Ledges Road Course last week - what a Blast!

Go, Leppelmeier!

What's with the XB12 front wheel? You wreck another one? ; )

The PCIII, HiPO2 may be something I look into, then. I didn't think there would be much to get out of it without more major modifications to the bike. Would be very interested in dynos, though, Dave!

Opto - no, I never did. It wasn't anything important, so I never pressed the matter. Just thought it would be nice to go to AutoZone and buy one instead of the stealership.

The 4 wire, heated O2 sensor (DynoJet Hi-Perf equivalent) for use with the PCII Buell box is:

Bosch 15716, Standard Motor Products SG27

I picked one up at Advance Auto for $45 bucks.

Works fine on my 9R w/Feracci map.

Noface, Yea, I'm using the SG27 with the PCIII too.

Darth, I have an extra set of wheels now for the track tires, got the front through the local dealer and Henry Duga (Buell race support). I was very fortunate in being offered the opportunity to be an instructor with Fasttrax, a CCS Affiliate club racing organization here in Ohio and Michigan. We run an advanced street riders school and racing school at Gratton,Michigan and Nelson Ledges, Ohio. And the Buell gets a lot of attention : ) One thing I found out real quick - I though the XB handled good on the street - it was like it was on rails on the track. Just unbelievable in the handling department. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face all weekend. Anyone interested in the school give me a hollar!
Here's a picture of my endurance racing partner and Fasttrax instructor, Kathy Hunter, on the Buell. She owns a Ducati 999 and a 900SS and I had a hard time getting her off the Buell! She just loved it!

Dave, I'd love to take a school with you guys, but I don't consider myself an advanced street rider by a long shot (and who says I've got an overblown ego?). Do you guys have novice and/or intermediate courses?
