Hey.

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend an option for saddle bags or tail bags they have used (or seen) that would work with an XB12S Lightning?

If not, what tank bags do you guys like for an XB12S?

Thanks.

- Bud

Bud,
I'm going for the Buell tail bag, seem's difficult
to fit anything else because of the shape. Don't like tank bag's so if I'm carrying more than would fit in the tail bag then would use a Kriega rucksack.
Brilliant piece of kit!

Thanks Engima -- I'm not a big fan of tank bags either ... that Buell Tail bag looks good, but it hardly holds anything. I don't like having a back pack on when I ride either ...

and yes, I know this isn't a Gold Wing ...

Brian,
Where can I go to check out the Nelson Rig? I'm interested.

Thanks for the help guys!

these are Tourmaster saddlebags. They also come with a tailbag that I just didn't need today. They worked wonderfully.

This is a pic of how it mounts with the seat. With the stock seat the staprs fit under it, but with the Pegasus/streetfighter replacement it was too tight so I had to use the supplied neoprene straps. They also come with raincovers.

Bads, very cool, then I won't worry about getting them myself and not being able to get them on, I know you can help show me how !! : )

I'd only want the saddlebags and tailbag, I don't care for a tank bag !!

$100 for the tankbags through Cyclegear. The sadlebags and tailbag IIRC was about $150 but I bought a bunch of stuff from the dealer all at the same time so I am not certain on that price. He was throwing discounts at stuff left and right and a few things he gave me at his cost.

Also take a look at LuggageLocker.com

I got a tail bag from them and I'm pretty happy with it.

I have that tail bag / saddle bag system on my Blast. Used it for the first time last weekend and I was kinda flogging the bike. The bags did REALLY well. Very nice general purpose items. I'd recommend 'em.

I know this has been mentioned before as a universal mounting option but I just thought I'd throw it out again.

Bicycle Panniers work great in almost any application. They usually have more room than motorcycle bags, are cheaper, are similarly reflective, and are usually also weather proof/resistant.

Just do a search for online cycle stores like bikenashbar. It is a great place to look. I got a tail bag on discount and it works great. I attached the straps directly to a net I bought from the same site that I stretched over the pillon.

The people at Sport Touring Accessories (the folks that run Deal's Gap) sell Oxford bags. I think they look "right" on my Firebolt:

Bads the raincovers are included with the purchase, that is the cost for replacements. Like I said I was buying alot of stuff from that dealer and he was throwing discounts left and right.

Can't anything be inexpensive in this sport? $160 for saddlebags? No doubt those Oxfords are nice bags, holding much more than the comparably price Buell bags, but man, that's a bunch of money!

Ghostrider, I bought a seet of combined tail/saddlebags for my XB9R for $60 new. Eclipse - it was a discontinued make that I got on eBay (They've got a purple stripe on them, but hey, they only cost me $60 - retail $170). I bought the 'Sportbike Luggage Pack'. They are bigger than they look, and the people there were really nice (they are located about 15 miles from my house). They gave me extra straps/buckles and even came out and helped me install them on the bike!

http://www.eclipseluggage.com/

If you do some shopping around, you can easily find a set of bags for under $100.

I would like to thank everyone for the advice on saddlebags. I opted for the Tour master bags and the Tour Master sport tail bag. I must admit that the Oxford bags looked really cool and they may be in the future on my machine.}}}
