And don't go weaving in and out of traffic. : ( . Life is not a video game, and people that ride like that aren't just skilled, they are skilled and stupid and making lousy bets with very high risks.

My prayers for the riders family.

My wife and I watched a Chrysler Town & Country take out a sport bike today in heavy NYC traffic on the Gowanus. . . . . . this was all I could think about.

The front of that bike looks pretty good for crashing into a car, while the back is destroyed. Makes me wonder if the story is wrong.

I don't see how that bike rear-ended anything.
It looks like it was stomped from behind.

unless he dumped it and it spun around and slammed into the back of the car.

They are investigating whether that person will face charges for failing to stop and render aid.

didnt know you could be charged for failing to render aid. last i knew you couldnt be forced to do that. now leaving the seen of an accident(as i think the charges would be no matter who is at fault) seems to be more what i think they would have ment...?

I think that it is MORALLY WRONG for somebody to NOT stop and render aid - but is SHOULD NOT BE ILLEGAL!

When ever I tell people I ride a motorcycle they feel compelled to tell me how many people they know who have died in motorcycle crashes , or some horrific motorcycle accident they have seen .

I want to say to them " why are you telling me this dip-!@#$ ?"

All this does his damage your confidence as a rider . We all have made the choice to ride because we enjoy it . You also have the choice to ride like a moron . I have seen alot of bike accidents and prefer not to dwell on them because it can hurt your confidence , and freak you out , so you will have a accident .

My cousin just got in a bad crash, without gear. He spent 5 days in ICU, but has since been released. A few family members asked me if I was going to stop riding now. I responded with "Three of our family members died in car accidents, yet we all still drive. None of us have died on a bike."

Ask your friends who "advise" you about the risks of motorcycle riding - how many of them watch their weight or salt intake when they KNOW the effects of being overweight or taking in too much sodium.

I agree, but I suspect it was simply a matter of them hitting him with whatever charge they could in this case. Also, I'm not sure that I agree with you in a case where you are involved in the accident like this, then leave a man to die. That ain't right.

Rendering aid could be as simple as dialing 911 wich may be a law if you were involved in the accident.

My understanding of the Good Samaritan laws here in TX say if you stop you need to render aid if you can. (So don't stop if all you want to do look!) Apparently the guy stopped, and then left the scene. Like someone else said, they are probably just hitting the guy with all the charges they can.
