Prototypes of XB bodywork made with a carbon fiber and kevlar weave, the kevlar has been colored. What do you think?

The price should be close to the price of carbon fiber pieces and nowhere near the price of the bike.

I like the red too. I kind of wish I had that set made first and put it on my bike. Honestly, I thought it might turn out a bit pink.

I kinda liked the green myself. It looks very rich. A lot of depth.

You said carbon fiber /kevlar weave. I thought Carbon fiber was kelvar. Whats the difference and what are the upsides and down sides to each? Does the addition of Kevlar increase the price?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound mean. It's just me. I know the molds are expensive. It's just that it looks so good and I can't have it all right this minute!
I love the look of the black

I'd love to see the bike dressed in the Red if you get pictures.

Kevlar is closer to fiber-glass (glass fiber) than carbon fiber, and it is a long way from being close to fiber-glass.

Kcfirebolt -

From Dupont - http://www.dupont.com/kevlar/

General Features of KEVLARŪ :

High Tensile Strength at Low Weight
Low Elongation to Break High Modulus (Structural Rigidity)
Low Electrical Conductivity
High Chemical Resistance
Low Thermal Shrinkage
High Toughness (Work-To-Break)
Excellent Dimensional Stability
High Cut Resistance
Flame Resistant, Self-Extinguishing

I have some info on carbon fiber but I can't find it now. I know that it differs from Kevlar in that it conducts electricity and it breaks esaily when streched - so kevlar makes great rope and bullet proof stuff but carbon fiber does not.

Kevlar fabric is more expensive.

Kevlar bodywork should be tougher and more abraision resistant, but I have not tested this -hope not to.

For me it is just some technology to display and it can be colored. I chose to make the bodywork out of a weave because I thought it looked great.

If I have more made I will probably make some in carbon fiber too, I'm sure some prefer the CF look to the kevlar.

Roc,

You don't happen to make any parts for an S1 do you? I'd love to have a C/F cover for my tank.

Find CAP. He does'nt post much cause he's busy working at an HD dealer in Alabama (?). Search for CAP as an author and check his profile.
