Nice bike. How much you pay for it depends on what you want out of it. The front brake issue they are hinting at seems to be nothing more than a de-glazing of the rotor and installing new pads. If you are looking for a 100 point bike it will take some parts replacing as a lot of these parts are scratched up The front fairing stay is broke as well and those go for $130 new. The bike was definately flipped on a wheelie wich may have tweeked the rear sub-frame $495 new. The possibility of a wheelie addicted owner is a distinct possibility wich really puts a lot of stress on parts that aren't designed for those types of loads. The fact that it has a stock exhaust on it makes me think to the contrary and that it was adult owned. Generally speaking, adults don't punish their toys as much as the younger set does and keep up with maintenance better too. Just a few things to think about.

Does that lower pipe look smashed and is the frame dinged if no on either of those I would go for it. you can replace the whole front end springs and all new for under 2K so I wouldn't worry about a front brake issue. Make sure the frame is straight and you get a clean title not a salvage title.

skinstains beat me to the answer here! lol o well,

The front fairing stay is broke as well and those go for $130 new.

i was reading on here the other day they were going for like 200+ on ebay! but if its only 130 thats better (is that part something that could be welded? or is it necissary to buy a new one?)

as far as wind screen goes for that i've got kyle covered, i've got a stock one thats extra, and kyles my best friend, so i could just let him have it.

kyle said that the scuffed up plastics wouldnt bother him to much if he could get the bike for a good deal

I called the guy selling it and he couldnt tell me anything about the bike, he bought it whole sale and was just turning it around to make some money. he told me everything he knew about it was listed in the post

I'd be a little leary ... the ad says "Excellent exterior condition" and "light scratches" - but the tail light is now red plastic tape and the tail is scraped pretty deep, the front fairing support is cracked and windscreen is missing, road rash on the pipes, front rim, etc ... the rear tire is pretty well spent and the chicken strips are non-existent.

Looks like someone rode that girl pretty hard, and may have done some amateur stunting that led to a slow speed laydown on the right side.

Either way, the dealer and I have a differing opinion on what constitutes a light scratch (you can't buff out that tailpiece!) ... and I would be particularly concerned about what the PO may have subjected her to. The dealer warns "bike is sold AS-IS", so you inherit any other problems ... check it out completely before you buy ... and good luck.

that right side frame is filled I believe you can see a very slick line running straight down it as well that and the front pipe is welded so its been down more than once thats for sure

They do, people are stupid. $125 new, full retail. You can get it for a little over a hundred from some Badweb sponsors.

I wouldn't spend over $2k to pick this up. Anything more and you can a good unwrecked used bike.

I wonder if the bike was stolen and recovered after the felons had their way with it? I don't see any ignition damage, so I'm not sure.

There is a small dent in front of the right frame puck, it looks like it took a hell of a hit. He also has a custom painted 04 12S for sale, it doesn't look as bad, but also has some frame damage.

Only if you can snag it under 2 grand. That way, worst case scenario you can part it out and get about that back.

yea dude i vote you hold off and not jump on the first bike in your price range you come across, especially if its not even the model you want! it may be cheap, but like they all said its been down a few times apparently, and if the swing arm and/or frame is tweaked or bent in any way thats just not worth buying! it wouldnt ever go down the road the way it was meant to, just hold off for a bit and keep looking on craigslist in illinois iowa and indiana and such areas, something will pop up eventually, and make posts oncraigslist saying something like "WTB buell xb9" and see if people respond, thats how i ended up with my bolt. if you just keep looking you'll find and xb eventually and hopefully a lightning since thats what you really want! I'm sure that if any of the fellow badwebers come across something that seems to fit your bill they'll PM you and let you know!

I think people forgot that when the company was killed the $ dropped through the floor. I mean 3500 for an 03 you can get a new one for 6000. Sad but that's the way it is. If you have enough cash to buy one of these used pony it up as a down payment on a new one.

Mine is for sale...
http://norfolk.craigslist.org/mcy/1567097307.html

Also here...
http://www.vadriven.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33 2605

I have it listed for $8000, but I'll let it go for $6000.

I thought I'd enjoy it more, but I really haven't. I ended up buying a new '10 Shelby GT500, so the money will be used to go toward that.
