So, I'm doing some maintenance, and now I'm having to buy a new clutch cable, yadda yadda. Can I leave the primary case open and exposed (and obviously devoid of transmission fluid), or will exposure to the air in my garage cause something to rust while I wait on parts?

If the bike is in a dry ventilated garage It should be fine if you put something over it like a clean towel to keep stuff out.

Or you can put the cover on loosely with out the gasket. That way you won't lose your screws.

Got it. Garage is nice and dry, so shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks!

you can leave it open. throw some coins in there and ride around the neighborhood then tell everyone not to worry, its just a dry clutch.

I'd cover it with plastic. and seal it off with painters tape. Want to keep the dust out of it.
