"You are only firmly reinforcing the strongly held stereotypes of sportbikers being juveniles. Why the F*** would Harley have any regrets about ditching "THOSE" customers?"

THOSE customers' dollar is worth just as much as anyone else's. I really don't think the maturity level of Buell customers has anything to do with whether or not HD want our business.

Yabbut the WAY in which we're protesting is so totally impotent and self-defeating.

I still say that Hardley does NOT consider Buell customers to be Hardley customers and outside of some few dealerships, they have NEVER considered Buell customers to be Hardley customers. Nobody is convincing anybody at HD of anything but the rightness of their decisions.

We'd be better off channeling the anger more productively - and not trying to do so much damage.

It may make you feel better doing so, but like a loud fart in church, it only gives relief to ONE person. Doesn't change the sermon.

Slaughter and Newxb12ss each make a few good points - but this is the corporate world Men - in an economy like this these types of decisions have to be made. Do I like it? Hell, No. Do I feel bad for HD? Ah, no. The real victims in this mess are the guys who came to work on Friday thinking they were going to build a motorcycle a got a pink slip instead. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Bottomline is this: I bought my Buell not because the engine was stamped HD but because of the design and ingenuity behind it – it just happen to use a HD power plant. Would I buy a HD product? No, because Buell was the sole reason I would enter a HD shop. I am not being immature, that is just a fact.

When it comes time to add a new motorcycle I will be voting with my money. A good chance a BMW or Duck will be parked next to my highly polished Buell XB9R. Now excuse me while I go to move my wife’s Saturn over so I can pull my Yugo in the garage. I didn’t want to drive the Delorean today.

The fact that HD is blocking Buell comments says more about HD than anything. Of course, the people that read the HD sites have to know that it's being so heavily censored. So better to keep pointing out the censorship on all the other bike sites. That censorship really goes against HD's brand philosophy. It's quite hypocritical.

Anyway, HD took quite a kicking in this recession so they had to do something. Dumping Buell was a wrong thing. Parking it for a year might have worked.

The HD stamp on the engine was a factor to me. My Buell was probably going to lead to at least one more Buell before I stopped riding silly-like. Then I probably would have carried on the relationship with HD and the local dealer. I think a good dealer would be planning that way.

HD's dumping has detoured me from that path. I'll probably get a Ducati next. The Ducati dealer also carries Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph and Aprilia so you can see that there will be a different path for me.

I think that I'm not alone on that detour and HD misread that one.

Yes,..i was starting to think about buying an HD myself. Never had one. But at this point, not anymore.
Keeping my xb12, maybe picking another xb9 and then if i ever want a cruiser,...triumph probably.

I am with you Iamarchangel I even had a deal worked out with my local dealer and they already had the iron883 coming from another dealer. When I heard this news I called the dealer and told them nevermind and why. While it's not the dealers fault it s H/D's and I refuse to give them my hard earned dollars ever again.I will asess the buell situation and decide If I will keep her or trade on a triumph/duc or a non Harley bobber.

HD doesn't deserve Buell anyway. The Buell motorcycles are built around progressive thinking, something corporate HD never did understand. HD is not interested in bleeding edge tech, or redesigning something cause it works better. They are all about selling as many generic units as they can, you have to go back to the 1940's to find anything innovative in thier product.
Buells arent just different, they are indeed "better" than other motorcycles of the same type.
If Ducati (when it was down in the dumps) was bought by HD, there would be no Ducati now, no world championships VS the big 4, and no legend at all.
With HD these things were denied for Buell.

So... if you don't know motorcycles, and you want one "like they used to build em", and are willing to pay 2x the real value, and sacrifice safety, power, handling, innovation, excitement, and you aren't an individual, but just another number, who wants to "fit in", and never stand out

BUY A HARLEY

In my eyes, HD now, has nothing at all going for them. They have thrown the family jewels away!

Slaughter is an awesome guy, and I'm still very grateful to him for helping me get my bike fixed at the dealership. I understand what he's saying; I think we just needed to vent and voice our outrage.

HD doesn't have an official e-mail address, that's why we were sending messages to their site and people are still sending messages to their Facebook account.

I too was thinking of adding a crtuiser that was going to be either a V-rod muscle or a softail standard to the stable beside the xb now if I ever decide to get a cruiser it's going to be jap probably a vstar warrior or something like that, maybe the new vmax.

"You are only firmly reinforcing the strongly held stereotypes of sportbikers being juveniles."

Which is funny, because that's the exact crown H-D claims they are planning to market to (under 35 crowd).
