I have a '05 Cityx, and had an idea for comfort in long rides. I have long legs, and thought that if I traded someone with SCG suspension, and then found a seat that had a higher seating position, I could effectively keep my ride hight the same, while increasing the distance between seat and pegs to take a little pressure off the knees. Any SCG guys out there want to swap suspension? | ||

how does the SCG suspension (forks and shock) change the peg position? are you thinking of a uly's peg mounts? | ||

He is thinking by dropping the suspension and getting a taller seat it would cancel out the ride height and give more leg room. Uly peg mounts are your best option for more room, but pricey as it requires a good amount of replacement. | ||

Frogster, tell me more of this Uly peg mount process. And yes, Froggy was right about what I was trying to do. Drop suspension + Taller seat = same hight from seat to ground but greater distance from seat to pegs. | ||

I first got an 05 City X. I'm 6'2 almost 200 lbs. My wife wanted a bike and I wanted to move up to a 12. My wife is about 5'6. I got a great deal on an 05 12scg but I was too tall for that bike. So I swapped the suspension from the City X to the 12scg and vice versa. My wife is happy and I'm happy. But her City X with the scg suspension is not comfortable for me to ride. Just my 2 cents. | ||

Without pulling up part numbers, you got something like $450 in parts to switch to the Uly stuff. $300 for the peg mounts, $80 for the pegs, and a few more dollars for a new rear brake line, different shifter parts. Perhaps 2" drop pegs from precision eng. would be a better solution. | ||

I've had this same issue so i was glad to see someone started this thread. I'm curious if the 2" precision eng. pegs will fit a xb12ss as they are listed as uly pegs. forgive my ignorance on this but i am leary of ordering them for the price if they won't fit. Thanks for any insight. | ||

Keep in mind the SCG is a very low travel suspension setup, so unless you always ride very smooth roads you may not like the change. | ||

The Uly pegs have a slightly smaller size for the hinge part vs the XB. They will fit, a washer or two would be nice. I don't see why the Pre-eng stuff wouldn't bolt right up too. | ||

For long trips just add some fold down highway pegs to the front forks, then you can stretch your legs out straight in front of you. Other things I do is folding the passenger pegs down and putting my legs behing me and laying on the tank. and occasionally I'll scoot back and sit in the passenger seat for a few miles. It puts a little more weight on my wrists but it sure feels good to stretch the legs out. I have an enduro as well, and I love being able to stand up while riding. Unfortunately the XB feels a little unstable standing at 80mph. | ||

I'm pretty sure that the Skyline seat (stock on 05 Cityx) is already the tallest of all the XBS seats. You'd have to have some custom work done to it to make it taller. | ||

Buell makes normal XB pegs, and then they have ones that are 1" lower for the same price. I'm not sure which are standard on which models. I had the lowered ones until one broke, and replaced them with the normal height ones on accident. Go to Buell Parts.net (I had to write it out because it wouldn't let me paste the link). | ||

Ferocity, The Lightning models come with the dropped pegs, the Firebolts come with the no drop. |
