I have been off the board for a while and was wondering what the status was of getting a 08 or 09 ecm remapped/programmed. Thanks!

There have been a couple upgrades to the stock maps from Buell, if you're not looking for an aftermarket solution.

ecmspy will do it but its done in direct eeprom data.

there are three 08 ecms that read fine.

if yours reads fine dont get the update.

if not you have options,

get a xb9 ecm from 08 as its firm ware 0c0 then burn the 0c0 xb12 base data to it and you now have a xb12 readable ecm. set the tps and your off and going. able to tune with ecmspy and data log.

i've been doing this a long time. there are many tricks to get around issues in the ecm that are mandatory put there due to the new regulations that sanctioned in back in 2003/2006.

tricks and data there are many ways to get the answer you need in the fuel tables as implied you can add fuel in other areas to get more or less fuel yet not see a change in the actual map value.

temp, cycle time, rev, load, tps deg change. all have values attached to them which affect the fuel table.

...are all '08 XB9 ECMs this 0c0 firmware that you can 'convert' into a XB12 ECM?

I have to say this option intrigues me.

Here is Al's (American Sportbikes)response to my question of whether or not there is an ecmspy for the '08, '09 XB12S...

=================

No, and I don’t think there will be. However, Directlink will be working on the 09’s. It is nowhere near as nice a program as ECMspy, we’re working with Technoresearch to improve that, and it isn’t free, but it will enable tuning. We just tuned my 08 with it last weekend, and will be doing ongoing testing to ensure that it works with all the 08 and 09 models.

Al

======

Al also mentioned they would make an annoucement in here when ready...

Cheers...

That's about what Al told me last week. Only thing was, by the time you buy the Key for Directlink and pay American Sport Bike for maps, it's nearly $500 or so. He didn't have final prices, but that was a rough estimate. Does that seem pricey to anyone but me?

yeah this is the directlink option as I talked with Al on that a month or two ago.

We went over a few needs on the directlink and ect. as he said its a hit or miss on directlink being all it needs to be.

I talked with gimberto at direct link he wanted my data for the link. but, wanted me to purchase the link fully. well that was a no deal. i'm not giving them stuff to add to it and help fix there stuff. then have to purchase my own data. I did find out the direclink tested 100% with a ecmspy cable.

so all you need is to go to the direclink website the there downloads and get the program. then all you need is the key. a single key for a 2004 to 2007 xb9 and xb12. I have a trick for it and a key for 2008 xb12 up. a trick for that too. used with ecmspy on the odocb only. the DOM5 will be a single use key at this time. till I crack the code layout in the eeprom file.

or follow the xb9 flip to readable xb12 way i do it. works 100% went over that with al also last month. as long as the firm ware matches you can cross burn the eprom data. making a xb9 to a xb12 or xb12 to a xb9 ecm.
units this works with 2003 to 2009
ib310,ib350,ib360,gb231,ODOCB(2008),these firmware cab be flipped to xb12-xb9,xb9-xb12

Al has many hours invested in the directlink and will let us all know when it ready as time permits.

i found a few things on it the other day which at this time I cant say but it was very interesting. As I did tell Al about it. i dont know if he tested it yet. hopefully he emails me the results soon.

as some people never knew a lot of people work in ecm tuning together. even if its only once every few months on data exchange and how too on a new areas.

we are all in this together always working towards a better way.

note: ecmspy is reading two versions of the 09 and 09 ecm just fine. one more and it reading all ecms fine including the last bern on the 1125 bikes.
