i ride the xb9 to work...all i hear is chick bike and sportster engine. so what are the origins of the 984cc engine? as far as my co-workers..they are sheep.buell riders dont follow any crowd...'cept a buell crowd! and i'd take any xb series 9 or 12 over the cruiser stuff. that just is not appealing to me.and neither is the fashion show that goes along with it. seriously...i had jacket gloves and helmet...they had fingerless gloves and light jackets.....i had the only helmet.they has slip on boots and i have my lace up danners till i get something better. i suppose i value my health and life differently.i dont get the ride with no basic gear.i like my skin :P ppl sure talk a lot of crap i swear!! scott |

What type of bikes are they rolling on? Only thing to do is ride the twisties until you can ride them DAMN well and then invite them for a ride and see who rides the girls bike. Just make sure its twisty and has short straights, even if you smoke them on the turns if they burn you in the straights they may still get at you with how "slow" your bike is . |

Oh and on another note, I am riding a 12 not that that makes a huge difference but I have felt completly excepted by people I have met on rice rockets. Today I met a nice guy up at the Vista where I ride during the week on an R1 and chatted for a long time and he was SUPER into the bike. And all the non-riders checking out the bike is sweet as well. Even people in cars! Today I was sitting at a stop light and the guy turning left in front of me looked at the bike the whole time in his very nice classic car and then mouthed nice bike... Never had anybody do that on the jap bike, did have some neat comments on the 50cc MB5 but that was a girls bike ... Anyways, they may go faster in a straight line but I doubt they get 4 comments per mile! |

What a second these are cruisers? I was thinking they were on rice rockets. Tell them about how your bike has fully adjustable showa suspension, 6 piston caliper up front, handles like a super sport and is comfortable like a harley. Then go for a ride with them! See what they think about your girl bike pulling away. This Sunday I will be riding with my dad on a 96 inch harley and his buddy on a 103 inch... He saw my bike recently and didnt say anything about it being a girl bike, he said what is it a 750cc? I said nope, 1200cc, 100hp, 88 pounds torque and half the weight of your harley. Looking forward to showing him what a buell can do on Sunday . He is the man who got me into motorcycles, first bike I ever road on the back of was his. He was very throttle happy to say the least! |

I did notice the cruiser line in the first part my bad... I guess I just associated rice rockets as the type of rider that would call a bike a girl bike... Anyways considering they are riding cruisers you can outperform them in twisties, straight line, uniqueness, IMHO comfort and cool factor. You win. Case closed! |

Oh and the other reason I was thinking it was a rice rocket group of guys was the fact that they were hating on a sporster engine. Dont know why a cruiser guy would, atleast not as much as an I4 rider. Especially when said "sporster motor" puts out more HP then their big twin's. |

Small guys with big bikes, wonder what they're compensating for? +1, thats the line you need to use next time they start busting you're chops. You know you have a sweet bike..... power, handling, comfort, and most importantly the fun factor. |

I just recently bought a Sportster 1200CC and I can tell you that it does not even begin to compare to my Buell xb12 in any way as far as the engine goes... yeah, they share the same roots, they look the same... but the buell makes like twice the torque, twice the horsepower and if it doesn't it sure feels that way. Tell them to suck it |

Maybe people will stop calling you Jrice when you change your profile to say that you own a Buell not a rice burner, and maybe add a pic. Just sayin...

I'd ask them if the XB is a "girl's" bike, just what exactly they would classify their slower, poorer-handling, lower-seated pigs as? A baby's bike, perhaps? Or maybe a grandmother? Real men don't wear fingerless gloves. Leave that to Madonna. ~SM |

I would put little rainbow stickers on their motorcycles, or better yet a rainbow/jolly-roger to go along with the gay pirate theme. Not that there is anything wrong with gay pirates. Put it somewhere where it'll take a while for them to find it. |

I agree with 4dwuds, my dad has an 08 Heritage Softail Classic 96 in^3/6spd yada yada, he thought he would "race" me on the freeway one day, he drops from 6th to 4th, I stayed in 5th, let him take off, pulled up next to him still in 5th, dropped to 4th pinned it and left him bus lengths behind. For the engines they get, their bikes are just too damn heavy for them to be calling anybodys bike (yes even the Ninja 250) a girls/womans bike. |

"so what are the origins of the 984cc engine?" The T-Storm is based on the same architecture as a Sporty motor. Harley builds both the T-Storm and the Sportster motors in the same plant at the Capitol Dr. facility. The Buell motor is close to a Sporty, but it isn't one. |
