Last night I caught a little blurb on the history channel where they said Popular mechanics has listed the Buell Firebolt as one of thier "Top Ten Boys Toys of the Year". I think they also said that it will be in the current or upcoming issue of PM.

Maxim Magazine also lists the Firebolt as the baddest street bike to buy in thier Holiday shopping guide of the December issue.

Some good press lately for Buell, I just wonder why it took two years for the Bolt to get any recognition. Hopefully the Lightning will catch on quicker.

>>>I just wonder why it took two years for the Bolt to get any recognition.

That's largely mindset.

Buell, even I will confess, dug a deep hole from which they began the journey to the top of the mountain.

I am watching with interest as, without exception, Erik Buell's "just go ride the motorcycle" words ring true.

Each journalist who has RIDDEN the XB platform has reported back somewhere between "awesome and stunning".

The sole negative comment has come from a staffer at Motorcyclist, who refused to ride the XB at the press intro.

Knowledge is power.

I couldn't agree more. After I rode both the Bolt and the Lightning I could not believe how much fun they are. I didnt think they would be that much different from my S1.

However it seems the masses still want a full fairing monkey/football riding position cookie cutter bike.

If people would "just Ride the Bike" I think they would change thier opinion. The only other bike that I have ridden that gave me the grin factor the Buell did was a Ducati 900 Monster.

Am I remembering wrong? The Firebolt arrived in showrooms April/May 2002 right? Am I crazy?

April 02 it was!

Maybe Buells next promotion should be titled
"Just ride the bike!"

Ride to the edge!

I don't want to ride a Lightning. If I ride it, I'll probably fall in love with it, and I can't afford one right now. Besides, if I buy a Lightning, then I won't be able to buy the S3T replacement when it comes out. And I REALLY want hard saddlebags on my next Buell.

I rode the Firebolt...but I like how my Lighting (S1) handles just fine. I got off the 'Bolt before I got too used to it!
