My Uly takes on a sine wave (can feel it but can't see it with the naked eye) at high speeds. Like a mini-weave. Not enought to make your arms tense up in fear, but a constant microscopic weave of maybe a 1/2 inch left/right/left/right/left/right, etc. The other complaint is that if I just barely touch the handle bars back and forth a weave will ensue. This is really Hard to describe, but if anyone felt any type of small weaving at high speeds please tell me so I know it's not just me. Separately, I can't seem to lean this thing more than 5 degrees. It's not the bike, but I just can't find stability/leverage for my body being so upright. When I move my top half right of center to prepare for a right turn, I can't "hand" off because it feels upsupported. My knee can't 'ground' my upper body because it feels slippery, etc. Anyone else feel they could lean more degrees on a cruiser (because you could press your upper body into a backrest) than they can sitting upright? Note, this is not Uly specific, but upright adv tourer versus cruiser style. Please answer these questions separately so I know which one you are answering. Thanks! |

Are the tires filled to the correct air pressure? What condition are the tires in? Are they cupped? Lastly, is your suspension adjusted for your weight? Mine is stable 99% of the time, but the bikes are very twitchy if you want them to be. |

Lean: still new at this but I'm finding out cool differences everyday. Not sure quite what you mean but my knee moves first then my upper body. At that slight lean you refer to, I wouldn't have changed my seat position. Sounds a bit like you're trying to hang off before you're leaning. Knee is pushing into the tank, not up or down. Starts feeling psychic at that point. The idea is you are trying to keep all your weight over the centre of the bike not hanging off, it just looks like hanging off. |

What tires are you running? The '06's that had Dunlop 616s, including mine, from the factory had the traits you are describing. I switched to Conti road attacks and love them. |

I'd also suspect your tires. Pirelli Scorpion synchs or diablos...or pretty much any non-dunlop tire will make your bike handle much better and not "squirm" at speed |

We need more information. What bike are you used to riding (cruiser, sportbike, etc.)? What tires are you running? What tire pressures? What suspension settings? I can take both of my hands off the bars at any speed an not feel anything "weird". It will lean much more than 5 degrees:
It's hard to tell from what you are describing what the problem is. Usually handling issues are tire, pressure, or suspension settings related. |

For me, tire pressure has a dramatic effect on confidence when cornering. Usually run 36f/38r on Mich PP 2ct's on my Lightning. Did my first track day and couldn't believe how sucky I was compared to others in the Novice class. Finally had a chance to push my bike on a track and the fabled Buell handling just wasn't there. We hated each other, the love affair was so over. Luckily it was Buell Demo day, and for the third session I rode the demo of my bike.......loved it! Ok, WTF is wrong with my bike?!#$% Suspension settings were per BadWeb KV so....... Long story short, conferred w/ Buell techs and CR's, dropped tire pressure to 30/32, rode her again, and I'm glad to say ..... what is it they say about makeup sex? |

I was out yesterday and the bike just didn't feel right. Nothing had changed. It wasn't the bike. It was me. I just wasn't in the verve. |

I was out yesterday and the bike just didn't feel right. Nothing had changed. It wasn't the bike. It was me. I just wasn't in the verve. That happens to me all the time. I'd say it happens with all of us. Some days I just don't feel like pushing myself or the bike. I'm just not in the "mood" and I don't have the balls to do it. Today I was in a daring mood. I scraped the peg on my Lighting for the first time ever. |

In sport psych, it's called "plateau". You get to a level, and stay there until it feels boring or awkward and then you go to the next level. It's all good except for the other rule: you're always fastest just before you crash. Take care. |

Relax and be the buell..... You don't need to drag your knee to turn them. Pushing into the back rest?????? Grounding your body????? Weaving or oscillation can be caused by a loose head bearing, or gripping the handle bars too tight. Just go put some miles on the darn thing. You need more seat time..... |

I have a "warm up" run that I do before getting to the meeting place. It gives me a few well known turns and curves to get my bearings and get in the groove. I was in a hurry, so I took the direct route. My head just wasn't in it. I didn't trust the bike. It was just that kinda day. |

well on certain types of freeways i can feel a weave but i dont think its the bike i think its the tires tracking the rain grooves in the cemment. On smooth roads not a budge. i have to say that for me the upright and wide bars of the ully make it feel like a 26 inch bmx bike. i have been able to ride the bike much more aggressively and controlled through twistys than any other bike i have riden. and i havent even really dialed in the front fork yet. |

It was the raingrooves after all!!! I road today on a different highway and it was gone! Thank God, because I can put on 500 miles a day and my recoup time is about 20 mins. After that my body can't really tell it was on a bike at all. I'll never be able to say how much I love the fact that I don't have to spend gazillions on after market seats in a trial and errors marathon to find comfort. I love this seat! |
