I'm looking for a seat that will lower the height by at least an inch. Almost all the seats I can find that might do that say "except for 06 and later xb12Ss." The problem is, I have an 06. Any ideas? Has anyone done their own work to their seats?

The Buell touring seat lowers the seat height an inch and is mad for the Ss. Look at the Buell web site under accessories. Ans it for the Ss and SST only.

Buell does make a touring seat for the Ss, I have one, its great, it also provides a much better seat for the passenger. Corbin also makes seats for the Ss.

If you want to try making your own, I have a stock SS seat with a ripped cover that you can play with. $25+shipping.

I made my own gel seat for my XB.

The touring seat looks good. Does anyone have a picture of it on their bike?

Adrenaline Junkie or DrFudd:

Will that touring seat fit an XB12Scg?

Very happy with mine although I wouldn't guarantee that you will sit lower.

Lugnut,

The touring seat for the Lightning Long will only fit the Long and the Super TT.

Heres a thread with some pictures of mine on it. This question seems to come up every couple of months. Bottom line, everybody hates the stock seat, everyone likes either the touring seat or the seat from corbin.

Just to back up Adrenaline_junkie, no it won't fit other bikes, just the SS and TT models.

Has anyone here tried the Corbin as well as the Buell Touring seat? I'm trying to get a comparison between the two since I probably can't sit on them before breaking down and buying one. I don't need the drop in height as I can flat foot the bike with the stock seat, but my wife would really like something more comfortable for the passenger. At the same time I don't want to have my legs cramped to the point that I don't enjoy the ride as well.

Buy the touring and gutt it. Don't forget the sides as it seems a little wider than stock. This is the re-cut touring seat on my Ss.

It looks great. Did you shave the pad? How difficult was it to cut the sides?

Thanks, wasn't to hard, just a little time consuming. I used a large wood file, sculptors file, and a hacksaw blade. I took about an inch and a half off the seat. I cut about a 1/4" off the sides and then molded the seat so it was flush with the plastic. Before I recovered it, I glued a sheet of 1/4" foam over the whole seat, (looks better when its covered). I used an electric staple gun, I couldn't imagine how hard it would have been with a manual. You might want to do a practice run on the stock seat before starting on one that you paid extra for.

Bought my first Buell last week (traded in my '06 Street Glide). According to the VIN, mine's an '07 XB12Scg. I want to get the touring seat but am unsure which one fits.....is my bike a long model?? How the heck do I find this out??

BTW.....I've been riding since '79 and this is the best bike I've had!
