Dre99gsx, I was wondering how your tail conversion went. I too have a 2008 XB12Ss and love the look of the short tail. Did you straighten out all the twitchiness and what not? I don't want to do it, if it screws the handling up. Thank you for any information. DOOM |

well the way i understand what you are asking, is he is putting a regular s tail on an ss? if thats the case it will have nothing to do with your suspension. your handling would be exactly the same. |

your handling would be exactly the same. Not exactly, But darn close. He will have moved his body position on the bike changing the way it handles. I know not much but it will change. |

According to some of Dre99gsx's other posts on the subject, the change in seating position made the bike handle differently. I just don't want to screw anything up by putting the regular tail on the Ss. DOOM |

well i suppose depending on how you sit. if you are all the way stretched out on the ss near the back then yes when you had to slide forward on the s it would be a hair different. i dont see how that could be bad though. when i am really playing i found along time ago that if i slide up against the tank it handles way better than if i am sitting back like i would normally cruise down the road. it gets my weight more on the front and keeps the wheel on the ground when im cranking it through a corner. that is on a firebolt to though. |

Alrighty then! Well, after the holidays I'll see what I can get started. Dre99gsx said that he had to make brackets to raise the rear and inch or so. I am thinking I may be able to get those ass lifters from pm or Franks. We shall see. DOOM |

Thank you. This board is a great source of information. I actually stumbled upon the Ss to S posts while looking for Ss to R. That one sounded like a real beeeeeeyooootch and I (for now) have decided against it. DOOM |
