Last week I noticed a weird behavior with the cover of the clutch cylinder, the protector with the logo decal. When I press the lever of the clutch, the cover moves out a bit. Anyone noticed this little movement? thanks |

You probably got the weep pop it off it's probably full of fluid |

What's the "weep pop"? Are you saying that the cover weep hole is obstructed and some fluid is pushing the cover?? |

He means you probably got the weep (clutch weep), (comma) pop the clutch cover off because its probably filled with fluid. |

NOOOOOOO Pop the cover and tighten your spherical nut. You can lose the clutch if you don't. Happened to me 3 years ago. Z You need a special tool, or a socket, an Allen and a pair of Vise-Grips to hold the socket. Can't remember the sizes now, it's easy tho. (Message edited by zac4mac on July 18, 2012) |

a 5mm allen wrench will fit thru the nut and into the clutch pull rod to keep it from spinning...a 17mm box end or a 17mm socket with some vise grips can tighten the nut...good luck |

Ok I'll try today, I think I have all the tools... The vise-pliers need to be the ones that self lock, or a standard pliers may do the job? |

I removed the cover and there's some oil in the space between the cover and the actuator cylinder, cleaned, and tried ti tighten the spherical nut, but it was pretty well tighten |

Sorry I was in a hurry yesterday. The seals on your clutch actuator are bad there are 2 available routes for you. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320858986289?item=32085898 6289&viewitem=&vxp=mtr Oberon makes one http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/models/1125r/ ebr-clutch-actuator-cylinder-kit.html EBR also has one. I am not sure but I believe the Oberon is easier to get for the Euro guys. Hope this helps |

Ros Does the puck still move when you use the clutch? If it does, even tho it's tight it is out of adjustment. When right, it will NOT make the puck move. All my books are at the shop so I can't check specifics. Seems like it's the usual - inlock adjuster Back off screw until pressure relieves. Tighten until you feel pressure. stop and lock. Put the puck back on and see if it moves when you use the clutch. Z |

Zack, the puck still moves a bit, it's difficult to see now the movement. Ok so, I need to unscrew the spherical nut completly and thigthen again? Now when I press the lever, the cylinder moves outward, and when I release the lever goes inward, I think this is normal. It's possible the little movement of the puck cames from the air pressure that cylinder produces when the lever is pressed and then this compressed air that cannot goes anyware moves the puck? The weep hole of the puck maybe obstructed and the fluid or air are containes inside the puck? This hole is a straight hole? I mean there's no valve inside the hole, right? |

Right, just a hole. I don't think the puck will move unless the spherical nut hits it from inside. I'll try to remember to bring my manual home tonight. Z |

Note you should remove the puck before you try and clean the weep hole....the weep hole may be obstructed and it is straight... a small pin/twist drill (1.5mm (.060")dia) or small dia safety wire may be used to clean it...you may be seeing the "compressed air" moving the puck as the piston moves in and out of the cylinder...the puck is held in place by the rubber o-ring...and rubber is elastic/springy...unless you have liquid leaking out the weep hole - clean the weep hole, put the puck back in and go riding! |

Nuts I'll try clean the hole, maybe there's some dirt in it. Thanks Zac I'll wait for your diagnostics |

Yeah little bits of rubber get stuck in it when it weeps and the fluid itself can cause a bit of an airlock. I think your problem is gonna be the weep but either way if there is fluid change the system and at least one problem is solved for awhile. Dave |

OK my mind is properly refreshed, got the book... The hex-key is to keep the clutch release pin from turning as it's attached to the assist-diaphragm. don't want to tear THAT. Torque the spherical nut to 14Nm(124 in-lbs or 10.3 ft-lbs). Make sure the o-ring on the spherical-nut goes into the piston and is seated. All I know for sure is the only time I saw my puck move, the nut was loose. Just went out to the garage and popped Loretta's puck. All dry inside - that's a good thing. The piston moves 0.100-0.150" and doesn't touch the puck. I hope this helps Ros. Zack |
