So, I am in the process of relocating back to Oakland from Phoenix (just need to find a job). Part of the move, of course means finding a new dealer. Now that I've had a free moment, I called up to get the fuel sensor error from the old rev IC. I also needed to get the kickstand spring replace (I had an old KZ1000 spring on it that retracted the stand when I stood up the bike).

Called up Oakland H-D to set up an appointment. I detailed the fuel sensor issue and SM got it right away. Then I told him about the spring. He told me to hold on a second. When he returned, he told me to shoot down there and he'd put the spring on. When I got there, it turned out the extension arm was also broken. That part they didn't have. However, the SM tracked down another that had accidentally been put with another parts order. Once found he sent it back and one of the mechanics put the whole thing together and sent me on my way. I paid for the part but no labor.

Definitely not a huge deal but it was really nice to be able to get something done immediately and to actually have the attention of the shop while I was there instead of being treated like job or worse, an annoyance.

If you are in the area, I definitely recommend them.

I lived in the Bay Area from 1992-2006, and can confirm that Oakland H-D knows a thing or two about taking care of customers. It's good when people post positive experiences, since most of us can easily recall some not-to-great moments.

hey milleniemx1,

the current Oakland H-D isn't Dron's any longer - rather, H-D in Fremont bought Bob out & moved their dealership into his building....

the 'new' Oakland H-D has some Buell enthusiasts remaining from the Fremont store, tho' the head Buell sales guy may have left their employ

The Freemont group was Buell Friendly. If you are in oakland, you can come to the ASBN meetings now. The first monday of the month of April is flat track night

Yep, many of the Fremont wrenches are at Oakland now as well as some of the service and part staff. These are good guys.

Just found out that a good friend just started working there. If you need an H-D mechanic, Englebert is your man. The bikes he builds for himself have been the only Harleys that have made me consider owning one.
