Joe,don't know if the S-3 has the same circuit breakers as an S-2,but when my main circuit breaker starts to go I would drop a cylinder--my clue was the tach would go 1/2 speed also.
Course I don't have the dreaqded side stand switch either--be sure to check that.Are you actually getting juice to both plugs--check coil?

Thanks for your input.The side stand switch died ages ago and is now bypassed.
On inspection of the plugs the rear was dark and fuelly while the front was clean and light in colour.I have also swapped the plug leads at the coil with no change.It really has me annoyed as I always tell my Jap bike mates how good and reliable it is and now this!
I have the day off tomorrow so will take to my local Harley dealer and get them to run some checks on it.
Thanks Firemanjim I belive I did see a circut breaker near were the tank bolts on.How do you test this?I hate the thought of paying Harley shop labour($65 per hour) if I can fix it myself(or with BadWeB help)

Has anyone used the paint protection kits (3M clear plastic) such as the X1 kit on eBay? I think these products have pretty much replaced bras on cars? (a search on the archives shows no hits on "paint protection" )
Hoping it would stop the stone chipping on my new chin fairing....

Joesbuell....I know this sounds all too simple and you probably already checked this but a few weeks ago I suffered what appeared to be an electrical failure(intermittent missing) on one cylinder of my X1.It would start fine but after 30 seconds or so would start missing on back cylinder.It would rev above 3000rpm but below that would miss...ended up being enough water in the tank that the first injector it would get to(it feeds rear first) would see water and corrosion chip from water sitting in fitting.Drained entire tank to dry.Refilled and ran fine.Long shot but easy to check....

99X1....I fitted one of those kits to a bike(my Tuono not Buell)and was VERY happy with quality and fit.Has protected very well and is near invisible!Following the directions and taking your time is paramount to a good result!Use the Denatured alcohol they recommend and Dawn dishsoap.If you need exact directions I would be willing to help.You have plenty of time to position(glue practically dissapears when wet with dishsoap)and can redo over and over with NO problems.You can also remove anytime you like and reapply to another bike though I haven't tried that one....

Joe those circuit breakers are cheap at the local auto parts store.I keep a cpuple of spares.Just through another in.Also,whay was plug dark in rear,runing too rich?A fouled plug on these Buells feels like a single cylinder bike.

Found a few interesting 34 or so year old slides today. When I finished my SE Asia tour I bought a brand spanking new pretty blue Kawasaki 500 H1 Mach III in 1971. For those of you that aren't aware, these 2 stroker(s) were some scary fast pups. Had the H2, the 750 and the 1000 too. Never had even the slightest problem(s) with the any of the bike(s), like nothing! Even rode it up to Canada. Anyway, eventually some lady ran into me a year later. Ended up modifying the puppy a touch. Keep in mind, this was in 72' and my fist chopper project.

Sorry, didn't think I said that (no they didn't). Anywho, the 2 strokers were scary fast, in their day. I recall the first time I hit around 6 grand it nearly threw me off the bike. Not only could you here me come'in, you could see me too, with all the smoke!

You wouldn't believe how loud that puppy was. Dunno about the fire, was to scared to look down. I did out run the cop(s) a couple of times. Man was I stupid in those days. Glad I found the images and a few other cool things.

Ya gotta understand, there wasn't much aftermarket stuff available in those days in comparison to today.

Oh, it ran just as good and fast as it did stock, even with the straight pipes ... honest. Ha, check out that rear brake. The front was a spool, no brakes. It was bad enough stopping the stock pup, this was even more interesting. I remember pein'ing the sides of the gas take too. When it was all done, I had a very well know pinstriper named Van Dutch do the pinstriping.

The Street Rod story was one of the best CityX articles ever written. Every quality they found, the Itsy Buell simply did better for much less $$.

The CityX is a home run.

There is no way that rickety T-bucket did 204 mph! The guy is full of it in a big way. And I highly doubt 2 small blocks are making 700hp each as well.

Well i'm a happy little Vegemite!!!
I pulled the carby off today and the inlet manifold had been leaking on the rear cylinder!
Quick trip to Harley dealer(they say it's a common problem on evo engines)part no:26995-86B intake manifold seal $13 Australian.
Just need to cut a bit off an allen key to get the bolts out otherwise an easy job.
Now my baby is purring like a kitten again : )

Maybe this info can help someone else.
I thankyou all again for your input.

Can't sit hear blabbing all day I'm going for a ride!!!

And that's not the only place in Cycle World where the little XB's keep upsetting the applecart. Even as a Buell fan, I am amazed (not complaining though) at how many times the XB's keep coming back up in other articles.

What other single bike would you see related to something like the Multistrada, the SV's, the street rod, 600 repli racers, most naked standards, etc.

Seems like once you ride one of these things, even if it is not the bike for you, it *still* gets under your skin, as it does something very special.

The XB is a motorcycle that refuses to pose and "just works".

Don't be fooled by the translucent body, grill & hand guards and the keen looks.

This bike is best at just being a "just go ride the motorcycle" (quoting Erik Buell) type of bike.

Think I'm biased? Darn right.

Think I'm wrong. Ride it, then come talk to me.

Why is everything but the Plymouth Viper and GT-40 being slotted as "pretty darn good, but for less money you could have a Buell CityX and spend your days grinning for lots less".

It's quite cool.

I'm 6'4". Put on the low pegs and I love mine! Room to spare in the knee recess. I can't say that about the metrics, even the Busa. I just plain don't fit on them... Knee sticks out way over.

oddly enough, I'm attracted to the CityX and need to take the demo ride. Can't say it would replace the Duc, but as much as I love the S2, if the CityX performs as well as is rumored...

I would love to have a nice light bike that is extremely maneuverable in city traffic situations, accelerates briskly for the on ramps, slows and stops linear without upsets, cruises comfortably with light luggage for a weekend jaunt to The Mile, is a capable back-road companion(what Buell motorcycle isn't?)and has the modern attributes of fuel injection and is PCIII friendly.

We'll see what the market is like in '06 and how Ducati positions the Multistrada S series or updates the standard 1000DS...
