Bill,
I didn't go to the Thursday night thing on the square either. I didn't want to feel like I was sneaking in. Oh well, maybe next year my wife will want to go to the whole thing.
Drew probably wouldn't have gotten his speeding ticket either.

Outrider,

That was a Buell Press release that I found at Buell.com.

I just thought it was very interesting in light of the discussion you and others had recently.

Just for FYI.

The way I would approach them is if BRAG/HOG does a local event and we help/volunteer in some way, we should be able to get into the events free or at a reduced fee if we can only go to one or two things. I can also see how this would be a bit of a hassle for BRAG.

It's a difficult situation, I hope that it will be resolved to your satisfaction.

Jose...Thanks. I appreciate your posting the Press Release.

When I first responded I was doing an "eating humble pie" thing. The edited post was just an advisory that apparently the press release was not picked up and published by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

I understand both sides of the issue and can't fault BRAG for theirs. I just look at the Buell population in SE Wisconsin and Northern Illinois and it saddens me that so few attended the function.

Then again the same goes for local BRAG club membership. Only 2-1/2 clubs with small membership (active and inactive) among 9 SE Wisconsin Dealers and a decent sized Buell population.

Perhaps I should just write it off as the typical sport bike behavior I have experienced with many other brands both here and in California. Folks seek their own level of comfort and release with sport bikes. Plus, even I admit that I prefer riding alone or with only one or two others of like skill as I want to ride my own pace, enjoy the day and not be concerned about those ahead or behind. Additionally, one attracts less attention and law enforcement this way.

Incidentally, was great to watch you at the BattleTrax at Uke's. You are truly a legend in that arena. True poetry in motion!

Picked up the July issue of MOTORCYCList yesterday.

In "the real world" section, there is this blurb.

How Accurate? ..."Notably, most Harleys and Buells are accurate," ....

"For the most part, we find japanese bikes to be 5 to 10 percent optimistic on the speed display."

I talked to my parents this evening, there was a nice 1/3 page write up about the Ride Across North America on page 2 or 3 of my local newspaper. I'll try to get a scan of it when I get a chance, they usually don't put the entire paper online.

Jerry and his auctions are going great, I think after those, we'll be around $2000, with the big stuff yet to come.

Court, wanna come to Gettysburg Bike Week???

Alex, very cool all the way around! tomorrow i'm outta here doing recon of the Ferrisville to Zion leg, hope you're getting excited! : )

ok, another auction has closed whilst i was away. Loki, congratulations on being the winning bidder of LOT 17, a pristine copy of Battle 2win Volume 2 Issue 2 (for only $10? dude, you STOLE it! guess it pays to BADWEB on the weekends! : ) )

anyways, THANK YOU LOKI!!!

folks, i'm about outta stuff. i've been giving away bits and pieces of my stash here and there over the years for what i considered to be good causes, and i figured maybe this last gasp of Buellish collectables might do Alex and Matt and the ACS some good, and you guys have come thru beyond my wildest expectations.

i've got one more trinket to offer, something i think is quite cool, and something you're unlikely ever to see anywhere else. it'll appeal, perhaps, only to a select few of you, but if that select few includes you, you’ll be buzzed.

you guys know what to do, so cover for me for a bit, k? and if any of you have something you want to offer up on the auction (thanks again to Dave Stueve from Appleton Buell!) on behalf of Alex and Matt and the American Cancer Society, go right ahead. post it and hype it (hang a pic or two if you can) and we’ll make up the rest of the rules as we go.

thank you, BADWEB. i’m proud to be here.

An S.O.B. (Southern Ontario Bueller's) ride to remember. July 31st, a ride in the Niagara area ( RR69, Effingham, Pelham Rd., Hwy 20, all great twisty's etc.) Followed by season finale racing at Niagara Motorcycle Raceway. There was at least 6 Buell's there last weekend.....two with U.S. plates, let's get some U.S. support out there for motorcycle racing. This is world class dirt track racing....be there! E-mail me or post in the Southern Ontario Buell Riders Support Group (S.O.B.) if you wish to attend.

I'm considering replacing my stock ignition module on my 1998 S3T with a racing ignition for the higher rpm's limit. Anyone have any advice on which after market ignition module I should purchase?

I have already replaced the muffler and installed a jet kit and forcewinder air intake.

Thanks, Albert

Albert,
Don't waste your money. The stock module is just fine and a race ignition gives minimal(like 2 hp) gains for a bunch of money. aaron did extensive testing of this a while back and came to this conclusion.

Just wanted to tell folks of a trinket I bought on Ebay that is a GREAT improvement to my 98 S3/T. Guy is selling an "Easy Clutch" for $29. Installed it yesterday and was astounded. My clutch pull is diminished by at least half. Now a two finger pull and a sweet thing in traffic. Took 15 minutes to install inside the clutch sump at the cable end. Better throw and feel. The guy deserved every penny. Do a search on Ebay if interested.
No affiliation, kickbacks or remuneration. Just a happy happy clutch.

Havn't posted in a bit. My 98 S3/T has been giving me new annoyance and need some advice. It just started breaking up in the midrange. The
bike has always been a bit soft up to 5K rpm. When I twist full up from 3K it stutters until 5K. Plugs have been whiteish. Always ran strong with no hiccup. Haven't done anything different that I can think of:
Set up: RacePro K&N filter, 200 main, 45 pilot, SuperTrapp (13 disks
w/end cap).
What I did to cure: 4 shims under needle and slightly raised float
setting. Bought new plugs, but have yet to install them (old ones less
than 9K miles).
Sprayed carb cleaner at all the manifold intake joints, carb join and
body with no effect on idle.

WTF can I try now?

BTW:
The Lucy Lui movie was called Ballistic with Antonio Banderas. She's a hit-lady. Rent it for mindless entertainment and 45 seconds of her hotrodding on the Buell.

EZ,
I'll have more news on Lou tomorrow.
He was out of the hospital and at a rehab center but had to go back to the hospital.
I think he's back out at rehab now. I'll find out for sure tomorrow.
I was totally out of the loop last week so I'm a bit behind.

UK Bike sales year to date, from MCN

quote:

June 11 2004
R1 tops sales chart
Yamaha's R1 is topping bike sales so far this year, according to figures released by the Motorcycle Industry Association on June 11, 2004.
It's no coincidence that the R1 is the most-popular search in our Bike Reviews section currently.
The figures, measured year- to-date, show:

1. 1610 R1s sold
2. with Honda's CBR600RR in second with 1127
3. and Honda's CBR125R in third with 964 sold.

The rest of the top 10 is:
4. Fireblade (893)
5. Suzuki SV650S (836)
6. Aprilia RSV Mille (797)
7. Suzuki GSX-R1000 (794)
8. Honda SVC 100 Lead (786)
9. Suzuki GSX-R750 (734)
10. Piaggio NRG (715).

The biggest-selling naked bike is Suzuki's GSX1400 (355) while the biggest selling tourer is the Honda PanEuropean (333).

New bike sales in total have fallen from 17,629 at the end of May 2003 to 13,693 at the end of May 2004 - a fall of 21 per cent.

Harley...is it coming from the breather or is it a rocker box leak? It can be difficult to tell exactly were the oil is coming from with the rocker box. I had a front leak that I would have sworn was coming from the front motor mount.

As for Dallas techs, try sending an email to Blake. He's a Texas boy.

BTW...got the document. Thanks a ton!!!!
