Aaron,

I think you're comments were appropriate. Its racing toes get stepped on and feelings run high. Life goes on. Race your way and you attract friends and help from all over. I think the sportster guys you helped in 2001, loaning them pistons so they could keep running at one of your records would seem to solidify your credentials as a sportsman. I do remember tho that the compression ratio was a little low.:-)

Your attitude has always seemed to me to be spot on. Past is over, we're moving on, gather friends and family for the next adventure. I am glad you include us in some of your adventures.

Paul

Thanks for you words of support Reep, Bomber, Paul, Uw ... I appreciate it, really I do, but it doesn't change my regret that I said what I did. But I ain't dwelling on it, people are people, we make mistakes, hopefully learn from them, and move on.

One unfortunate side effect of all this is that I simply cannot be as open going forward about what I'll be doing. Don't expect any more pics of engine internals or even dyno sheets for that matter. I enjoy sharing all that because I really feel this team belongs to all of it's supporters, and I want y'all to feel involved. But the reality is that we could put ourselves at a disadvantage.

Aaron,

I agree with your analogy. I use it 90 degrees out of whack. From where I'm standing, it's black on the left side and white on the right. When you flip the SOB on the other side upside down on his head, he'll see things your way! Anywhich way, you've all made a bald "ole Bueller proud!

Kerry:

Good to hear from you again!

Aaron:

When people speak from passion, it can be very powerfull; the stuff great poety and songs come from. It's good to let that out now and then. I'm not saying you're Robert Frost, I'm just saying it gave those of us who weren't there the "feeling" of what it was like. I thank you for that.

Holy smokes, old baldie is back! How you doing Kerry? Great to hear from you again! Your name is still on the bike and it went over 208mph!

Thanks Vik, that means a lot to me. My biggest regret is that my friends couldn't be there. I *really* feel bad for the friends who came from overseas and yet missed out on it. Y'know how Richard dedicated this to his brother? Let me dedicate it to Paul (call me back, I just missed it), Ross, Griz, Peter, Jilles, and Rocket. Oh and Steve, too, not only did he come from Belgium, but then he rode a damn Firebolt all the way from Atlanta! But really, I appreciate everyone's support, and I wish all y'all (Louisiana term) could've been there to see it.

Ray, thanks for the reply, and know that there are many people, myself included, echoing your sentiments.

Aaron, i got a little emotional in what i wrote to you the other night, talking so highly about your character and all.

i thought about toning it down some before i hit "send", but ultimately decided that what i'd written accurately reflected my perception of you.

thanks for the additional evidence that my instincts were right. :)

take care out there brothers and sisters.

Hi everybody! After a little hiatus I'm back. Did all the stressful things all at once, changed residences (twice--Florida was to hot for my two dogs), changed women and jobs---still no heart attack, so back to Buellin'

Aaron's emotions are heartfelt, but it' easy to see where those feelings come from. His entire household of family shares the same wonderful feelings--You're a lucky man Aaron!

Wanted to be there sooooooo bad!!! Will be gettin deeply involved again!

Hey Eeeeek! How's the left coast! W's Happenen Jose!

What's with the water in Colorado? Doesn't Brian realize it takes longer to boil crawdads at that elevation? Heh Heh.

Congratulations Richard! You stayin' in Louisiana?

Nice words, Aaron. From reading the mentioned posts, I don't think there was anything said you should regret. You are, however, a true gentleman for being concerned and fixing what, I think, wasn't really broken.

(I just wish you didn't make it a black and white issue)

Hey AW:
If ya didn't have the passion for the sport you could'nt make the RR perform as well as you have over the last few years. It's that passion showing through that just colors your comments and actions. Anyway, don't change until I get a chance to try and follow you again down I-70 at triple digits on that underpowered S2! You and MRR left me in the dust!

Thanks for the beer, food and fumes from the race gas, best buzz I've had in a looong time.

Later

Great to hear from you to Paul. Yea, that was 950 miles in solid pouring rain and tornado warnings on the way home from homcoming 2000. Darn, we could only average 82mph with 28mph visibility. We all made it though--part of the fun memories! Don't feel bad about the GSX. It's all about why there are full face helmets. On the GSX, it hides your face from yer mates. On the Buell, it contains the ear to ear grin!!!

MikeyP: good to see you too - 2 years is too long. It was kind of a wimpy wheelie - even the homeless man across the street thought so :P Not sure this old body is up for an all-out weekend tour-de-force with the "Trash", but I'll give it my best :) Oh, and 'bout the pictures, some of us work for a living I'll get them posted.

Kerry: good to see you back. Still haven't found a parts guy to match you yet. In that function (and in person) you're sorely missed. Stick around, eh.

Aaron; No worries, mate.

Kerry! Great to see you back online!

Richard! Great to see you check in here. Great message the other day. You gonna move to CO too right? I already checked, there are at least three roadracing tracks in the area. One only charges $20/day, another is $50/day, and Pike's Peak international raceway is within an hour or so. What do you say? I think you'd make a hell of a roadracer on a juiced up Nallinized XB9R.

Will be doing Oak Hill Raceway Saturday 11/2. Come on out if you can. We'll sneak you a session on the track.

Great advertising......

Congratulations to MSN8 for decorating most of New York City's sidewalks with the butterflies.

I'm about AOL'd out and ready for a change that'll allow full use of the Blackberry and the e740 "hot spot".

Now....I hope when the campaign ends they'll clean up their mess :)

"I'm no hero. I don't even want to be classified as a hero. Just let it go like it is. I did my job," he said.

Just five runs from retirement, Lantz seemed unimpressed by the possibility of a financial windfall for his police work.

"I know there's a sizable reward. ... If I had the money, I'd probably take it and give it to the people who were shot," he said.

you may not be a hero, Mr. Lantz, but you ARE a good man.

Ever been sitting on a farm pond at 6:00am fishing for Bass when, all of a sudden, you hear the churning of 2# Crappie "boiling"?

You look over, see all the froth and turbulence on the surface and you just KNOW there's something incredible happening just beyond your sight.

Life's great, eh?

Kerry...don't be a stranger, you returned at a very good time and we've missed your shinin', er smilin' face!

"Zero Miles" is no more a brag on a Buell than a "never kissed" woman.

Frankly, give me a bike that's proved it's meddle, holds 9 Land Speed Records and makes the words "has been ridden" see nearly laughable.....

Here....wanna know what I mean?

1995 White Buell S-2 with various R&D parts installed the year before they were introduced.

Bike has been ridden with utter disregard for normal maintenance through 44 states, often for 20+ hours a day. 30 consecutive days were 100oF.

The bike has been ridden by over 1,000 people, most of whom could give a flyin' rats ass how it was treated as it'd be 800 miles away next sunup.

It's sat outside, mostly covered, and has all corroded fasteners.

Have never failed to start or satisfy.

Try offering me $25,000 for it (of the Cushman) and see what happens.

Buells are fabulous to look at, but provide their greatest pleasure when ridden.
please don't allow that line to get to SacBORG :)
