needing the studs for a S2 with the stock "tilted" air cleaner - specifically, need the longer one that attaches to the carb throat.

Are those the ones that look like a long coupling nut with the threaded stud on one end? I think I have a set from Penny's S2T that I threw in a box. PM me with a way to send a photo - if they are the right ones, they are yours. Her bike had the CA mandated "Quicksilver" POS unit that was removed shortly after it spontaneously combusted and fried the filter and CF cover. Hope it used the same parts so you can use them.

That sounds right - you can send pics to xcdx AT att DAHT net to confirm but you described them well..

That Quiksilver carb....what a mess. Red Edmonsen designed it, somehow patented it I believe, and sold the license to manufacture as "Quik" as he could...making "Silver" off of Edelbrock - who was then just dipping a toe into the HD aftermarket. No one told them that Red had done the exact same thing twice before - the Lake injector and the Lectron II are mostly the same design - and none of the stuff worked particularly well. I ran lakes on an old Triumph Bonnie for about a month back in '79 - then swapped out for a pair of Mikunis. I have been a Mikuni fan even since.

Re: those carbs, they were usually in a somewhat polished finish, so I'm thinking that the way they got sold is to the typical HD rider, who sees something shiny and goes "OOOOh - gotta have me one a doze!" Not unlike crows.

I sent a photo to that address - let me know if they are the right ones.

I can denigrate Harley riders, as I've been one for a VERY long time.

Excellent! I knew that if I hung on to that stuff, someone would be able to use it someday. Those parts came off Penny's bike in 1998.
