Rex.
Is that an original swingarm? I'm restoring S2 #1000 and need the original style, non-recall one for the bike. Any possibility of breaking it out?
Thanks,
Kevin

I will try and take a photo and see if it is an original swingarm....send me an email to remind me. I can shoot you over the photos and you can see.

I did sell the heads last night, so yes, I guess I can part out. what kind of price are you offering for the swingarm? there would be shipping expense. I would consider. REX

Rex,
Sent you a PM on the swing arm. If you can, shoot a picture so I can see the inside of the legs.
Thanks!
Kevin

Kevin,

I sent you an Email recently. Don't know if you got it or not.

The more I think about this, the more that I think the swingarm pictured is the original S2 style swingarm - with cut and welded arms. Wasn't the original S2 swingarm the only steel swingarm to have the brake caliper stop bolt slot above the left side arm and not 'hidden' inside the left side arm? From the pic above (that I can't see at work...) the brake caliper spot bolt slot is clearly above the left side arm.

They say the memory is the 1st thing to go but I forget the 2nd...

I will add that my pre recall 95 S2 swingarm was that way but the 96 had a pocket in the swingarm.

Would you have a complete front caliper?
I have a 98 S3T not sure if it's the same.
Thanks

Your S3T has a different caliper. 98 has a Nissin caliper and master cylinder; S2's all had PM calipers, and Harley master cylinders/hand controls.

Good news is, any of the S3/S1/X1/M2 calipers will work on your S3 : )

An S2 PM caliper should still work though, won't it?

Bolt on? Sure.

Work? Not without a matching master cylinder.

Now, I don't know/remember if the HD MC was the same or different than the Nissin piece...at least, not off the top of my head. But the wrong MC will mean either brakes that don't work...or brakes that throw you over the bars if you so much as look crosseyed at the lever.

I think the S2 PM caliper, is the same as the S1, S3 and M2 PM calipers as far as volume so they should use the same diameter master cylinder. I think the MC even had the same diameter between the Nissin amd PM. That is also off of the top of my head from when I was doing some caliper swapping between the Nissin and PM.

early s1's had the cast 6 pot pm caliper and the same MC as the newer ones. the earlier pm caliper that came on the s2's was just made from billet (cut not cast i guess) aluminum and had the harley MC and was ALOT nicer.
ive used these interchangeably, shims were needed to keep them in line...
ive used the PM on my s1 with the current MC...
the shims are really thin but are necessary to keep the rotor centered. you need a larger MC only if going to a dual caliper setup.
this is from my experience... no problems found after about a year of use. bike was parted and i still have the early PM caliper if anyone needs it...

I hooked up a ZTL caliper to my existing S2/HD M/C, and many people have used it with the Nissin M/C on Tubers, so I would believe it'd be fine as well.

Ken, I believe they are T-Storms, they would be perfect for your S1.
