Just some really fun stuff . . . . . the older folks get the more like kids they become.

Wow, thanks! I shared the picture of the Fiat 850 with my wife. When we met she had one (non-Abarth) which I constantly wrenched on. I think we're going to be getting a new 500 when they hit the market with an Abarth version. That Alfa is drop dead sexy. |

>>>Eclectic mix. My thought precisely. I confess to being more enamoured with some of the older stuff than the high dollar stuff. Many of these fellows have a variety of cars and bring different ones each time. The fellow with the Fiat has about 7 and is a confirmed fanatic. Ya gotta love folks who refuse to grow up . . |

I always love looking at these posts! Looks like someone else has a bit of a crush on the Elise! Glad I'm not the only one. The Buell of sports cars as far as I'm concerned. Take a mediocre engine, tune it right, put it in a lightweight chassis with razor sharp handling, and let 'er rip! I was surprised by the Lancia logo as I have never paid them much attention. It looks very much like a rotor in a wankel engine which just forced me into a few minutes of Googling to see if it indeed had a rotary engine. Unfortunately, no. Still a neat little ride though. |

Court, you should know by now that growing old is mandatory. Growing up is completely optional. Thanks for the pics. |

A couple of years back some chap rebuilding an early Ferrari GP car relayed that he planned to use it, much to other's chagrin. His kicker was that keeping such a vehicle pristine to hold more value was like not enjoying one's mistress to make her more attractive for her next lover. Nice photos, as usual. |

Yep . . . the one with the car seat in it. It belongs to Albi . . .he has quite a collection of Ferraris, Lomborghinis and so forth. I think the Alfa is a recent acquisition. I'll see him again on the 11th. . .eager to see what he drives this time. It is indeed a bunch of crazy old men . . . We had our annual Xmas get together yesterday . . . always, in my mind, sorts the men from the boys (and girls from women I guess also) to see who drives their car when it turns to winter.

I remember those itty-bitty Fiats. I had a good friend in high school who had one, we used to have a good time parallel-parking it in places where normal-sized cars wouldn't fit. We'd each grab a fender at the front , pick the front wheels off the ground and walk it into the space, then walk around and do the same at the back. Of course, this was 40+ years ago, and I was a lot younger and stronger then. That Fiat should have had a heated rear window. It would have kept our hands warm in the winter when we were pushing it home... rt |

>>>>That Fiat should have had a heated rear window. It would have kept our hands warm in the winter when we were pushing it home... A couple of years ago I was reading the list of the "10 Worst Cars of the Year". The Renault Le Car appeared on the list twice. There was some lingo to the effect . . "no, it's not a misprint . . . this car is so bad it DESERVES to be listed twice". They proclaimed the car's sole saving grace was a great rear window heater to keep hands warm while pushing in the winter. That's coffee spittin' funny. I suppose if we "relocated" a car today . . like when we used to hide folks' Volkswagens . . we'd be arrested. |

We used to do that to Bugs as well. I had to buy a new bumper for one in high school when it got away from us while we were moving it. Good thing they were cheap! |

I'd like to be the one in the GT amongst all that Euro-Trash. Every time I see that car I think about the original and the story behind it(because WE CAN!) Hank the Deuce, what a hoot. My dad was an engine engineer at Ford during the development of the original back in the '60's. He has told me a few stories about the development and durability testing of those powertrains that went on in Dearborn, really amazing stuff that will probably never happen again. |
