I wish they would show these great races live, or at least same day .

And I don't mean at midnight.

Watching Slick ride is a real breath of fresh air.

Watching the race now thanks to my DVR. I found it interesting that Eslick said one of the problems with the Buell is that it is hard to stop?? I always thought that was a plus!

My bet is it's hard to stop because it carries more weight than other bikes in the class.

Has Buell . . . ergo . . . be allowed momentum that has not been properly homologated and is not available to the little guy?

When momentum is outlawed . . . only outlaws will have momentum.

Un-effing-believable... a near twelve o'clock at full throttle on the last lap! That's how to finish a race! Wow, just wow!

Anyone have a video clip of the last lap? I was there, but didn't catch the good part of the last lap.

DVR'ed it last night; watched it this morning before work. Awesome piece of riding on 'Slick's part. Hacking was pretty cool about it too- he basically said he'd have done the same thing.

The man is a racer to be reckoned with. "Wow" is an incredibly accurate description of his determination to win. Martin Cardenas should take note.

One of the funniest things I heard was the interview with Cardenas after the race... He could get past "the Big ol Buell"

WOW! and WOW! The Buells did great this weekend and Eslick was killer!

That final lap was incredible. To catch up and then pass Hacking like that was breathtaking....Whew!

Was that wheelie after the pass on purpose or just a bit too much gas cresting that hill? It too was incredible. I'm not deleting it from my TIVO for awhile. : )

WOW! Wow wow wow wow! Wow!

Now that is racing I would watch! Did you hear the people in the announcer in the background going nuts? If the battle is for the hearts and minds of fans, Slick is a warrior for sure!

Wow.

Oh, and anyone whining about "the big Buell" need only watch that last lap for the sprint down the back straight at Mid Ohio...

The Daytona Sportbike spec 1125R and ZX6R look very closely matched. The 1125R has a little more grunt out of a corner, the ZX6R has a bit more peak power and peak speed, and the ZX6 can stop a bit faster (it's lighter)...

A recipe for one heck of a race, that's for sure.

they said they fixes the problem with the stopping , they replaced the brake pads on the front rotor and you obiusly could see how it helped in the second race.
Eslick was flawless. very much like watching Stoner race. taylor Napp also great showing. bright future for buellers

Slick like Stoner? Dude. More like Rossi going after a first place on the last lap. I've never seen stoner attack like Slick did. AMAZING! Way to go Slick!

"the ZX6R has a bit more peak power"

You might want to read page 18 in the latest Sport Rider mag in response to a question from Fresnobuell.

definitely a cool race to watch.

Danny got better drive off the corner thus the reason he could pass everyone on the front straight, not the back...

you racing this weekend Nuke?

You can watch that speed channel video of both bikes start at the same speed and just a few feet apart on the back straight at mid ohio. They are coming out of the keyhole at that point, so they are probably lucky to be doing 40 or 50 mph, and they have a very long straight to go all out.

The 1125R closed the gap a little at the start of the drag race, the ZX-6 pulled back away a bit as they were hitting top speed. Eslick was trying hard to make a pass, he wasn't sandbagging.

You could see the same thing at Daytona... whichever bike in those top three (Yamaha R6, Kawasaki ZX-6, Buell 1125R) was in the draft got the top speed. Whichever bike was leading would get passed on the draft.

If the peak power for the 4's is really less (I'm not sure it is), the power to weight ratio gives the inline four a slight advantage at top speeds reachable for US tracks. I've watched a number of these races now, and once the bikes are wound out, I haven't seen the Buell walk away from anybody. If anything, it's been the other way around, but it's hard to tell as whoever has the draft will gain on whoever has the lead regardless of model.

There were lots of rumors and speculation about those dyno tests. I'm sure it's not all fantasy, but I'm sure it's not all fact.

That article was useful for one thing, the reminder that sportrider editors lack a simple grasp of physics. Not uncommon among riders, but I expect better of an editor.

That editor makes a freshmen physics mistake about the "mythical torque advantage"... Torque doesn't matter by itself. As I have said a bunch of times, I'll sell you a kit for a 800 foot pound torque motor. It'll turn zero RPM, but it'll make 800 foot pounds, and it will run for 50 years on 10 gallons of water.

Conversly, if you limit me to a 30 foot pound motor, but I am allowed to do anything else I want, I will build a machine that will be faster then anything else on the course... something along the lines of a turbine engine generating only 30 foot pounds, but spinning at 40,000 RPM.

Torque times RPM is what matters. Less torque and more RPM, or more RPM and less torque, it doesn't matter. Just get the product of multiplying the two bigger. This "torque times RPM" product is so important, we even have a special name for it... it's called "horsepower".

What people generally mean when they misuse the term "more torque" is "better horsepower when the engine is not turning near peak RPM's. This is important on a street bike to keep the bike from being annoying as hell, but it becomes of less importance in racing.

It's a shame sportbikerider misunderstands such a fundamental concept...

Even if all the gossip from the dyno test was true, it still undermines their case. They said Barnes bike made over 150 HP, and the 4's were making 120 HP. If thats such a big deal, then why doesn't Barnes just power around everyone on every straight and walk home with the win every time? He's a good rider and doing well, but there are a stack of inline fours ahead of him in every race.

I'm tired of structuring reality around people unwilling to take the time to understand physics. Structure the races for real parity, and let the whiners whine.

It's obvious to anyone who watched that incredible last lap at Mid Ohio that the big advantage the 1125R has in Daytona Sportbike is Danny Eslick... It's a competitive bike with an amazing rider. Just like other 3 brands that keep coming within fractions of a second of winning week after week.
