If these beamers can get some good times up there with a factory team, I think Buell should get their butts up there and race them in the 1200 class. (Didnt really want to put this is the racing section since most of the Uly riders are here.) I went to the race again this year and the 1200 class is all beamers. They need some competition! I bet with a good rider and bike they could mix with them.

Here is a video(slow download)
http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/video/GordonUphil l.MOV

The other guy ran away from this guy but someone with some good racing experience could hang.

If you look at the new brochure, there is a girl on a pink furry CityX, and I have dollars to bet that she is either on Pikes Peak racing, or out on the salt flats doing highspeed passes. The bike is filthy with dirt. Any anony want to comment on where that pic was taken? Now theres a girl that knows how to treat a CityX ;)

I guess I am too old and no longer fearless. Maybe in my old dirtbike days, but those days are long gone.

I enjoyed watching the video, but I kept thinking that he was going to go off the edge of the road and never be seen again. So, how many guys do go off the road?

And please tell me those two riders weren't on the same kinds of bikes. That one rider just plain disappeared in seconds.

Well there was a factory team that had the big truck and a small team(privateers) that had a van. The factory team had some big name riders as well. I think after last years exhibition of the BMW's, they came back with a full team to dominate. One of them crashed but not sure who. At the drive down and high five session I noticed one of the riders had a scraped helmet and a banged up cylinder head but looked in tacked. Some of those guys just way fast.

That was Gary who disappeared at the beggining of that video. I think Chad should race his Uly up there and show them how to drag a knee!

Steve: Have you been down to that race in the past?

Still would need more steering lock to do any flat tracking with the Uly. Maybe the 08 change could help alot with that.

That video is for Chad and FT when they decide they can slide the Uly on gravel at 70-80.

Heres another one of the starting line up to Glen Cove. Pavement to dirt. Man those KTM's are dam quick.

I'm going to ride Pikes Peak next month with my Uly. Nothing too Competitive though, although I will be doing a rematch with my KTM 950 Adv mounted friend. Last time he lost, so he's really gunning for me this time.

Now I've seen flat track. I didn't see any "real" flat track. There was some kickout management, though. : D

I practice on the right hander running past Johnson's Chapel Church of Christ on my normal bombing run.

I think the steering lock would be manageable.

Daveys frame was a tricked out flat track frame. It was listed as a 600cc rotax. The BMW was right behind him in time in the 1200's.
Some of those high speed sweepers are flat track slids. Or at least thats what I've seen. My buddy that races in the 750 class rode mine down some dirt roads and said the steering lock would hurt you bad.

"The newest motorcycle category was a popular attraction this year and very nearly posted the fastest two-wheeled time. BMW had the only entries into the 1200cc division and Gary Trachy picked up the victory with his time of 11:46.473, just under five seconds slower than the best overall motorcycle. That title belongs to Davey Durelle who raced a specifically built Rotax 750 to a time of 11:41.756. Durelle's custom machine was so dominant that not only did it set a new 750cc record, but the second-place rider in that division was 36 seconds behind."
