I have an ECM with these numbers on it:
N1306.k 01295
USR4JA120
It came off a '99 X1 (fuel injected).
Will it work on a 2000 X1 (fuel injected) ?
Thanks,
Ian

Daves,

Do you have information regarding any significant differences in the Uly ECM ignition and fuel maps vs. other xb's prior to 06?

No I do not. Sorry.
The only changes I am aware of is the difference between the 03-04 984 bikes and the 05-up 984 bikes.
Not sure what the changes are but they were to work with the different throttle body.
I looked up the stock part numbers and 2005,2006 and 2007 all take the same part number, Firebolts,Lightnings and Uly.
What I find really strange is that the 984 and 1200 cc bikes take the same part number for those years too? The 984 bikes have a higher redline, not sure how that is supposed to work?
How would the ecm know what bike it is in?
Strange?
Stock part number for 2004 1200 bikes N0306.1AA
Stock part number for 05-07 ALL XB bikes Y0152.3A8

I put a '05 XB12 ecm in my '06 Uly, to see if it changed the low speed (25~35mph) driveability. There was no noticeable difference between the two ecm's. Including the fan operation. Uly still gets 50+ mpg on the highway @ 70~80 mph. Less in the fun zone...

Daves,

Even thought they have the same part number are they "flashed" the same?

Yes, I thought about that but since I have never ordered a stock ecm I don't know if when we order them we tell them what bike they are for and then flashed before they send them out?

Does the ECM Firm Ware have a catalog part number ? Does your ECM interfacing equipment have the ability to read this and the Revision letter or number? Does the Buell Web site give access to download flash upgrades?

I may be using the wrong terminology here I am trying to relate this ECM to a PC Bios chip which can be flashed and can also be interacted with to set adjustable parameters and turn on/off features.

Thanks,

Joe

If the ECM part numbers are the same for all XB's. I suspect the replacement ECM is delivered in a low level format condition. Your friendly H/D dealer then uses a proprietary tool to program the ECM.

Many dealerships cannot get the TPS right let alone flash an EPROM or ECM. There is no procedure to do that in the maintenance manuals.

It is my understanding that re-flashing a ECM is covered under the warranty and that it can be done at dealerships. It appears now that is not the case.

I have a mystery ECM:
N1306.K 01295 USR4JA120
Correct part # for '99/'01 X1 should be:
Z1037.K or 91437-99Y
It came off a '99 X1 (fuel injected).
Does anyone know what this is?
Thanks,
Ian

Here is a great 2004 post on the Buell Dynamic Digital Fuel Injection. It discusses how the ECM controls the injection system

http://www.sporttwin.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=1553.html

Here is the link to the 2001 Harley-Davidson DDFI Indealership Technical Training Program

And here is the link to the HD/Buell 07 Model changes. look at pages 2-8, 76-84 and 87+.

The later pages deal with the Dealer special test Equipment that allows them to flash ECMs etc.

Lots of good info. here!
