I will pick up my Uly Thursday (hopefully). I've ordered the bags although I don't plan to use them all of the time. I was wondering if anyone had a pic of a bike with the hardware installed but the bags removed. Someone told me there were pics like that on the Buell Uly microsite but I can't find them. Thanks Don |

Look in Ferris Bueller's thread in the Tales section. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/6817/152029.html?1128866562 |

Thanks Eor. Found an even clearer pic at http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/129352.html?1122181554 Honestly, I don't like the look of the empty brackets. Considering not having them installed Don |

I just got back from a 4 day trip and honestly am thinking that I am not going to get the side cases now. Granted, I am not going to have a pillion for any of my extended riding... I found that between the beaver tail and the bungee hooks under the seat (love them) for a back seat duffle, that is all I need. Here are some pics for reference:

Hey you better rethink that my friend. What if you would meet a 5'9" 38-24-38 Blonde with lots of money and an appetite for rear seat riding. Don't push it too hard but maybe she would splurg for the luggage. Iv'e done a fair bit of touring in my day and I wouldn't be without the extra luggage room. Never know what you may find at a garage sale or two. I may leave the top bag off when not touring but I'll have to see. |

lol, I'm afraid that would end up costing me a whole lot more in alimony than just buying the luggage myself I am not saying I'll never get the cases but for now am happy with out... |

Get the whole Top and side case kit. The top case rocks! Yes the side case mounts look ugly without bags but its six bolts and its off! (about 10 mins) The top case rack does not look bad without top case on it. I've been riding to work with just the top case. |

Just order the luggage.... believe me, you will have plenty of time to decide whether you actually want to install them. |

It's ordered Eor. I was a little unnerved when they told me they didn't know anything about the brackets because they hadn't actually see or installed a set yet |

Wow. This weekend the HD/Buell dealership in Annapolis is holding a "Bike Bazaar" - you pay them $20 and show up on Saturday to sell your bike right from their lot. They claim it's been advertised from Baltimore to DC. Anyway, I was going to sell my generic Tourmaster saddlebag/tailbag combo. Guess I'd better hold on to them for now Don |

I'll snap pictures and post tomorrow. Luggage installation was easy. Pay attention to the cautions, notes, warnings, etc. Lock you mounts down with the key. DAve |

Hey All, I too am still waiting for the side cases. I was told the end of this month, so I'll start pressing the dealer then. If the actual date ends up being closer to Dec, I'll cancel them and start working on a set of detachable brackets for Givi cases. I'll probably look at making the factory bracket quick detachable if I stick with them. Oddly enough, a friend has a Kawi ZZR and a Givi 3 case setup. The lower side case arm almost aligns with the threaded hole on the back side of the passenger peg support (XB12X) and the upper arm close to the threaded hole on the underside of the triple tail bracket. Cheers |

You can bet Givi will have a set of mounts for the Ulysses soon. I am a huge fan of Givi cases. My wife had a 3 bag set up on her ZZR1200. She now has the same bags on her FZ6. I've got a Givi top case on my FJR. Givi WILL have a mounts for the Uly soon. |

Just picked up my Uly (Midnight Black) today. This is the first and probably last brand new bike for me and I got to ride it 30 minutes back home in the pouring rain...Anyway, my bags were ordered last Wednesday and the dealership guaranteed me the electronic "paper trail" shows that the bags were packed yesterday and should be shipped by tomorrow from New Jersey. IF (and that's a big IF) it really happens I'll let you know - may be time to light a fire under the dealership if you've been waiting longer than that. I absolutely love my 1999 X1 but all the engineering improvements on the Uly make me feel like I've been riding an antique! BTW - I've changed my username from Hooaah to a name more befitting of this forum. Last rambling thought - I've been a member of several other Buell and sportbike forums (such as sporttwin.com and others) and this one absolutely puts the others to shame. I picked up more info in the last 2 days here than in the last 2 months on the other sites |

Not to poop on your ice cream, but my luggage has been showing up as "packed" on the H-D computer system for at least a month now. I don't think their software has Waiting For Them To Arrive From The Manufacturer In Germany Whose Employees Have Been On Vacation For Six Weeks Like The Rest Of Europe as a display option, so it just indicates Packed

Hey Dave, thanks for the pics. The tail bag hardware doesn't look too bad; still think the empty pannier brackets look lousy ,though. Just my 2 cents worth. Reminds me of the time I spent in Korea - the Koreans would weld and bolt all sorts of metal to their bicycles to make some wicked strong front and rear carriers. We used to classify the bikes as the quarter, half, and one ton models. Hey EOR, no problem. I would bet the rent money that I don't see the bags until after Christmas, if ever. ciao |

I agree...they don't look too stylin' with the naked brackets. On the upside it's maybe 30 minutes to remove the brackets though. 6 bolts and the side luggage brackets are off/on. The tail bracket takes 8. I took my side bag bracket off my S3 once... What a pain in the @ss. DAve |

Hey Dave, Thanks for the pics. Those brackets look like 1/2" diameter or so? Are they hollow? Looks like the top case has a bracket that bolts under the tail section, then the actual mounting plate mounts to it? Interesting. May not be hard to rework the stock stuff with quarter-turn fasteners so removal is a snap. |

Maybe someone could come up with a plastic/vinyl number plate type thing to put on the brackets when the bags are removed. It would give it a big dirt bike look. |

Yeah about 1/2" and bars are hollow. From the installation kit DAve |

I am hoping the Hepco Becker Gobis will fit on the side racks. |
