Soo, after a very long time of drooling over a uly, I finally got one. 2006 13000 miles. Drove 100 miles home to see this, leaking right fork seal. Not a huge problem, except I drove it a 100 miles home with oil pouring on my tires... Made it home safe. Now on to some qestions. 1. Are fork seals still available? And how much oil goes into the forks. 2. I got the top case/rack and side racks, no panniers. Also the back rest. All in a box. How do they all fit together? Also what other panniers fit onto the racks.

You're going to want to buy a service manual and seals should be no problem from your friendly Harlee/ex-Buell dealer. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloa ds/Service/isheets/-J03577.pdf I"m unsure if the later bags fit this rack but I do know that the rack kit itself is a bear to install. You'll swear that it doesn't fit but it does. (Message edited by SteveFord on October 22, 2016) |

Back when I started looking to add OEM panniers, I found the following. In the end, I went with soft cases as I wanted to be able to remove them without leaving empty brackets, so I cannot validate or report back on these, but thought you might want to investigate: http://www.motorcycleadventure.com.au/shop/index.p hp?route=product/category&path=101_145_948 http://www.hepco-and-becker-luggage.co.uk/products .php?prodtypes=14#tabselection |

And... welcome to the cult, I hope you enjoy it as much as I (and the majority of us here) have. |

The fork seals are still available. Even if they weren't, they are run of the mill Showa forks so they are easy to source aftermarket. While you are in there I recommend putting in the 2007 Uly springs, it really helps with the fork dive as they are progressive springs. Unfortunately not many bags will fit the stock brackets, due to them being "backwards". There are a few that work however, none of which I can recall the names of, so I'll post up them later once I rediscover that. |

That's intresting about the springs. I did notice the front feels soft, bit I figured it was because I was ozzing out oil. Where would I source 07 ulysses springs? |

Part number J0113.2AK, you need two of them, it will set you back about $50 Your favorite Buell dealer can get them for you, if you don't have one local talk to Lance at St Paul HD/Buell. He posts on here as 651lance, his email is lkugler@stpaulhd.com Don't forget the service manual. If do the 07 springs, the fork oil level is different than the 06.
quote:2006 Ulysses: Single Rate fork spring 39 lbs / in Oil level 113 mm from top with fork fully compressed (+ or - a few mm ideally) 2007 Ulysses: Triple Rate fork spring 39 lbs / inch up to 3 inches of travel 59 lbs / inch from 3 inches to 5.4 inches of travel 84 lbs / inch from 5.4 inches to 6.5 (bottomed) Oil Level 172 mm from top with fork fully compressed (+ or - about 8 mm no problem)

Here's a link to a thread I did many years ago. I also put the 2008 triple trees on to get more steering angle. If you use the thread for info please read all the way through as some earlier info was corrected. I just reread the thread and realized one thing was left out. When installing the adjusters you need to readjust them to I believe 3 turns down before you screw them onto the rod. The Service Manual has a detailed instruction and I suggest you follow it since it's been a long time since I did this. If you don't do this correctly you will not have the correct amount of adjustment. Welcome to the cult and enjoy your Uly, best all around bike I've owned. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442538.html?1236474150 (Message edited by tootal on October 23, 2016) |

Thanks for all the great help, Nice to hear from active members. ok, i have fork seals order, moving on. I got he bike with the backrest off. I went to try and put it on today but noticed that I don't have any of the bolts to secure it. What size bolts do i need? also the rear, where the grab rails attached on top ,just looks like holes. How does this mount up? If someone can take some pictures or a video for me that would be awesome. |

This is a great mod! I followed Tootal's instructions and also put in a set of larger diameter 2008 forks years ago, I think at the same time. A great improvement! Also got one of the longer "Tootal" steering lock pins. Thanks Tootal!!. |

Reading up on the forks springs, would I be better off with racetech or hyperpro springs over the stock '07? I don't know a lot about spring rates, I will be taking it to a race suspension shop. What is the 07 spring size? Compared to the 06? |
