Looks like KTM is aiming for the Multistrada:

Looks like it will be released sometime late 2013 as a 14 model in the US. Hopefully they'll also come with a 800 class bike or at least finally make a 690 Adventure. I'm not holding my breath though.

Don't laugh just yet.
That is just one model, and is the more street oriented version. You know, like a Uly!
There is another version with taller suspension and proper dirt 21"/18" wheels.
It was just tested by MCN and they concluded it was the best off-road big adventure bike out there.

Yup, the model pictured above is the Ducati Multistrada or Triumph Tiger Explorer competitor. Also, most likely (if I may assume a bit) a notable competitor for the recently announced EBR Adventure Bike.

The Adventure R is the previous Adventure replacement, and the more off-road oriented version:

Still pretty much in a league of its own.

Looks sweet. You'd think they'd have the "R" designation on the street oriented bike.

They've always used the R for their more aggressive bike. Even the previous generation 990 Adventure had an R version that was more off-roady.

It's an off-road bike brand, so R (for racing) to them is different than R (for racing) to a street bike brand.
