2008 is new enough so that new stock may still be on the shelves somewhere.

There have been a couple of posts on having them rebuilt lately. I'll bet Traxxion Dynamics can do one.

Traxxion Dynamics was the only one I have read about, though I am sure there are others.

If they are rebuildable (and I know they are), any suspension shop can do them. Personally, I'd stick to known entities (Traxxion, Lindemann, PPS, Racetech, etc.)--your shock will come back much better damped, and smoother, than new..

I have a used shock in working order from a 2006 X with 14K miles. You can just have it if you want to use it while you get your other shock rebuilt, just pay for shipping.

I bought a "new" shock of ebay expecting it to be an XT shock, but it was an X shock. So, I put a Hyperpro spring on it, and accomplished the same effect. The used X shock is one I pulled off the bike.
