Okay, total newb question: What's the rectangular thingy in the middle of this pic? It twists about a quarter turn each way, does that do something important? Thanks for helping |

It appears to be the "stand off" block for the old stock ECM. |

And yes...it used to do something important - keep the seat off the ECM. But not sure, given your race ECM relocation, it has any further purpose. Cant tell from the pic |

Your ECM has been relocated and that is the spacer that formerly kept the seat off the forward portion of it. The front of the ECM used to sit under it. Whoever relocated it kept it there. I would leave it for a little extra protection, but it does nothing to turn it |

Awesome, you guys are great. Where would I find the differences with the new race ECM? I bought it this way, so it's all I know, and don't intend to change, but it'd be nice to know the difference when reading threads about upgrades and such... It's an 09 X btw. |

I'd keep it. I have a race ECM and the gains aren't that much better, it shifts the powerband, Plus the idiot switch on the kickstand gets removed through the programming. You would be more satisfied with remapping your current ECM to better fit your riding. |

You don't want the stock!

Hint, no domestic model XB since 2004 has had a kickstand switch Also, it does disable the functionality if you had it, as it is a RACE ECM and race bikes don't have kickstands. The wiring for the kickstand gets converted into a quick shift ignition cut. |

Oh I'm happy with the way it rides, just wondered what benefits I was enjoying with the race ECM, that's all. |

Froggy, you are wrong. Mine is a 2007 International model and it doesn't have the kickstand switch. It's not necessary due to European law. I think the 2008 model's where the first International ones with the switch. Ride safe Werner |

Froggy didn't say anything about International models, just spoke for US models. But since we're on the subject, I vote for Spain:

Mike, I agree Spain is nice, but I don't think she is a 2004 model |

How'd they remove her bicep without leaving a scar? |
