Riding home yesterday, I had an awful racket coming from inside my flyscreen. I took a look at it today and confirmed that it was just that stupid horn mounting tab.
I had one half acting like a spring and buzzing against the other broken chunk like the snares in a snare drum! What to do..... Well I wandered around the entropy lab looking for a chunk of steel that could be used and was delighted to find an old rear brake pad from my X1 had two holes that almost exactly fit!
.
All I had to do was remove the unwanted material Oh Craftsman 4.5" angle grinder, you complete me!
A love tap with my cross-pein hammer to give it a little bend, and a little love from my file and it fit right in.
There you have it: authentic horn mounting tab from Nissin! |

Nice work. All I did was turn the horn around, put it on the gauge side of the bracket, and bolted it to the hole where the 'other' end of the buzz-bracket bolts. |

I would have done that too but I have a relay on that bolt back there. Eventually, I will replace it with a real horn. |

I'm leaning more towards a pair of electro-mechanical horns out in the open instead of the fancy airhorn. Either way, I would need a relay and another +12 in there. |

I had a vibration from the horn against the fly screen. I threw the straps out and as mentioned above bolted the horn backwards to the main bracket. Glad to see I am not the only one with my horn facing the wrong way. |
