So my Uly is 10 months old with 11,500 miles on it. I've used Amsoil from day 15 when I did my first oil change. 20w50 most of the time; 10w40 in the winter. Both per manual specs.

I'm noticing more and more oil seepage.

I don't tend to thoroughly wash the thing. And maybe I'm being anal, but my Lightning with 19k miles and the same oil doesn't seem to seep nearly this much.

(Yes the dipstick is tight, still looks like this)

I change this gasket with every fluid change, which I think is stupid that it's necessary. But it still looks like this 100% of the time:

And this one is the most worrisome; the whole area in there between the rear jug and starter is nasty:

Now, none of them are bad enough to upset me. It doesn't drip or anything, and there isn't noticeable oil missing between changes. I'm just curious if this is something worth going to the dealer about warranty over.

I just did the breather reroute a couple weeks ago, and all this seepage was present before that. Will the breather reroute nix my warranty? Should I put it back to stock before bringing it in?

Or should I just spray some degreaser over the damn thing and keep riding?

It should'nt leak that much. Take it in for warranty work.

Be glad you got a warranty! Bring her in for a nice new set of gaskets and/or motor : )

I'm agreeing with Ulynut, I think it is a respiratory failure, could be allergies, might just be a serious sinus infection with pressure.

I would check out the crank case ventilation system. Looks like a job for warranty folks. If it is a ventilation problem the leaks are already formed. I doubt re-torquing will stop them even after the vent is fixed. With out warranty that is what I would try though.

Your clutch cover looks like a bad case of coming loose, or a reused gasket failure.

So, should I put the breather setup back to OEM? I did a breather re-route a couple weeks ago.

The oil seepage was already there though, not a new problem since then.

Mine looked that way, especially the area behind the rear jug. Turned out the seal between the starter and engine, as well as the stator plug were leaking. Fixed under warranty. Good luck.

My '08 Uly, with 10k miles, has a similar mess under the starter. Likely the starter gasket, or the stator wiring grommet? Got a few months left on the warranty, so it'll be going in soon.

I would put the breather back to OEM Mike, just as a CYA.

I have some year, model, color as yours. Gonna look it over tomorrow for sure. My warranty ran out two week ago... But i haven't noticed anything like that, but don't really look either.

I do my own oil changes, and use the inspection cover to pour the oil in. Reuse the gasket, and have had no problems. Next time around I'll pull the clutch cover off, as I plan on lubing the cable, and want to catch what comes out.

Since it may be a breather problem, I would put it back to stock before taking it in. It would give them less leverage to pork- peel you with the warranty.

My '09 looked just like that if not a bit worse at right around 5000 km. Took it in and had a complete re-seal done under warantee. Now at just over 14,000 km it's still dry.

I do my own oil changes, and use the inspection cover to pour the oil in.

So...how do you do your clutch adjustments?

If I have to reuse a gasket, I do it one time...and it goes in with hylomar on both sides. They are a crush gasket, with a curve to them. Use them once, the curve gets flattened. *Can* they work a second time? Sure.

Sometimes.

I had my '09 xt in for starting issues (several times) and, to make a long story short, I think it is their burden to prove that the breather reroute is causing the leaks.

Either way, take it in and make 'em fix it! (at least see what they say.) Use that damn warranty, if you don't then you are losing money on it!

Rat,

So far my clutch has been fine. and I have not needed to adjust it. - Now that I'ved looked closely there is seepage out of that gasket....

Mike, went out and looked at mine. I do have a little seepage but not much. And not anything like what you have going on behind your rear jug.
