Long story short, I haven't used my XM addon for my Garmin in a billion years, and now I want to use it again. It has always been hooked up and riding in everything I ride in. The antenna ain't communicating properly and won't connect to the XM satellites. I went to re-seat the connector and it turned all white and green from water and crap settling in. Is there a easy way to clean this? I am hoping bad contact is my only issue.
After you do that, spray it - and the socket - with either contact cleaner, battery terminal spray (leaves a residue to protect), and/or dielectric grease to keep the crap out in the future.
My .02 cents... I bet you could use a baking soda/water mix. Mix it just past the paste look (not to liquidy) and that should clean the corrosion away. And as stated earlier, then use some contact cleaner and then the dielectric grease. Good luck.
Baking soda a little water worked, it picked up the receiver no problem now. I didn't get a chance to roll out the garage and give it a real chance, but its good enough for now
Also I tried it on the USB connector for my 12v phone charger that decided to crap out on me, still didn't work. Oh well $3.02 on ebay with free shipping for another one.
