Folks, I have a 2008 XB!12X with the updated clutch cable wire form. Should I set the clutch cable free-play to the 2009 tolerance at the lever or stick with the 2008 tolerance (1.6-3.2mm) The 2009 free-play is much greater. Cheers |

I wasn't aware of a change in the spec, and the different retainer shouldn't affect it. |

Froggy- somebody posted on here before, for some reason, Buell changed the freeplay spec when they updated the retainer. Maybe it was just a coincidental change- I can't imagine how the different retainer would have any affect on the adjustment. I see that as being much more of an "owner preference" adjustment anyway. As long as you aren't grinding gears when you shift and the clutch isn't slipping under acceleration, you can adjust it however you want. (Message edited by Hughlysses on July 10, 2009) |

The important side of the adjustment would be the clutch pack adjust, inside the primary cover. Lever freeplay, as noted, is very much user preference...no slip, no grind, you're good to go |
