Mine has had a high idle (1700-1800RPM)when coming to a stop a couple of times lately. The first time it did it, it caught my attention, but then it cleared up and ran fine. It's happened a few more times since then, though. If it starts to become a regular problem, I'll have to have a discussion with the Service Dept at my dealership.

Try doing a TPS reset, see if that helps.

Dano- 08 = auto TPS reset.

If it's OK today, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it's still acting up, one possibility would be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. You can check by cranking the bike and spraying the area with WD-40 (messy) or by blowing a little propane from an unlit propane torch around the area. If the engine speeds up, that's likely your problem. Otherwise, I guess it'd be a problem with the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.

I had the same problem develop after Hal's did my 5000 service when i was at homecoming last year.
I was doing TPS resets with ECMspy while on the road, and it would help for about 100 miles, then start idling high again.
When I got home I brought it to the shop, and four weeks later they called me to let me know it was fixed...
After replacing the ECM, and, I think the Air temp sensor?
Anyway, that cures the idling issue, but the shop can't cure the surging issue. they just keep telling me they all do that and it's normal... : (

I'm wondering if it could be dirt/gunk in the AIS motor. It's just a pintle/seat setup that opens/closes to adjust the idle. If it's got debris in the seat, it can't close all the way. My '90s turbo dodge cars have a similar problem, they like to build carbon on the pintle seats and get wonky idles until I pull the AIS, clean it with brakleen and a toothbrush, clean the seat, and reinstall it.

Just a WAG.

Did you do the ECU Update that quietly came out last summer? Many dealers didn't know about it. Most liked what it did to the performance of the bike.
