Got the crazy fast sunset orange one too. Finally got a bike that my 6'4" frame can cram onto. Bike is about perfect. Any luck with any of the Buell seats for them? I like the stock seat, but I hope there's room for improvement. As always, TIA Stretch |

If you're tall you may appreciate the sport seat. I have it and noticed that my legs feel little less "cramped" in the riding position than the stock seat. The only downside is SLIGHTLY more weight on my hands. The saddle is firmer, and it is easier to slide around on the saddle; making cornering easier than the stock saddle (which feels like it velcros your butt into position). Just my observations. YMMV. |

I agree with Jaimec. I just put the sport seat on my 12Ss. Not sure how the firmer seat will do on longer trips yet though but feels fine for the 1 hour commutes I have done so far. The other thing I noticed was the heat from the fan is not as bad because the firmer seat. |

Cool. Thanx. Does anyone have the touring seat? Buell's web page says it puts you about an inch lower. I imagine that it makes for less leg room. Stretch |

Stretch, you may want to consider one of the TT seats. It would offer a bit more legroom IIRC. NUTS |

Guys, is the SS Sport Seat also narrower than the stocker? The stock seat seams a little "wave runner-like" to me. |

It FEELS a little narrower, but I think that's just because the firmer foam doesn't "squish" as much when you sit on it. It still fills the span between the seat rails (which limits just how narrow you can make the seat)... |

Ordered the sport seat today. Found a tear in the stock seat at the passenger rail. Bummer on a new bike. Gave me an excuse to order a seat though. SO I guess I'll be trying it out for certain. Besides, it has the way fast sunset orange trim. What a head turner too. I get so many looks on this bike now. It's totally amazing. Stretch |

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go ahead and order one. BTW, did anyone ask if they could could return the seat if they weren't satisfied? Bummer that no dealers around here carry one in stock so we could at least look at it in person. The've basically said if you order it, you own it, unless the "parts manager OK's it", whatever that really means. |

Stretchman, you should be able to get that original saddle replaced under warranty. Then keep it around as a spare. I still use the stock saddle for two-up riding because my girlfriend doesn't appreciate sliding around on the saddle the way I do when I'm cornering hard... |

I have that same bike, same color. Last weekend I rode it from my home in LA to San Francisco and back in 3 days on PCH1. The return trip from was made in one day, 450 miles of mostly twisties along the coast. 870 miles total. I have the stock seat, weight 240 in leather and stand 6 foot 3. The only problem I found was my right knee. I've had 2 opperations and it gets inflamed if I can't keep moving it often. I think a taller seat might make the longer trips easer. I thinking of having the stock seat reskined, keeping the stock foam and making it a little taller. I like how firm it is. |

Yeah, that sounds like a ride. Most twisty action we see around here is in planned communities, where the speed limit is 25. But hey, if you know what you're doing, you can drag your knee at 25. Too bad California is falling behind on everything else, like 2A, and CARB. Otherwise, it'd probably be a cool place to live. I rode when I was last out there about 20 years ago, stationed at Beale AFB, back in the younger days. The mountains are nice to ride in, and the roads are pretty good, or were then. I sometimes have a problem with my hip going out, if I get on the bike wrong. It'll cramp up, and sometimes it gets so bad I have to pull over. It gets worse if I get too fat, so I have to keep the weight off. But a minute or so stretching it out, and it pops back in, and I am good to go again. I spent like 5 hours on the bike yesterday, but only put about 100 miles on it, since I am still breaking it in. Lots of stop and go, cooling down, etc. Still the most fun you can have with your clothing on. And the Ss as compared to the S? Night and day. Stretch |
