Yeah - I have not adjusted it yet. That's where it was when I picked up the bike. Its actually not too bad there, but it could come up a little. |

Part of bike set-up is make sure all controls and suspension fit the rider ... |

I'll get around to it on the next rainy weekend. Hell if I'm giving up riding time to move my shifter a couple of centimeters. |

You may want to recheck your top speed on two wheels. The series of vectors you are summing don't occur simultaneously in the same direction. Cool bike. |

I figure they would at least once in a while... As long as I'm heading east, I'm traveling in the same direction as the rotation of the earth, and also in the same direction as the orbit of the earth once per day. Once a year, that will also be the same direction as the orbit of the sun. I suppose it would only be once in a few billion years that the direction of the orbit of the sun is the same as the direction of the movement of the galaxy.... Ah well, I can't conceptualize numbers even half that big anyway. Thanks! Nick (Message edited by naustin on August 21, 2006) |

I want to express my appreciation to the participants in Thumper forum. Bought a blast 6 months ago, and while i rarely posted, this board been an invaluable reference for me. I think y'all know what a great thing you have. But in case you don't, I wanted to tell you. i picked up a kawi zrx 1100 today and probably won't be back much. The blast was a great first bike, and i would recommend it to anyone. That has a lot to do with this forum. |

AHR! The little Kid picked up a wire in the rear tire today, in through the center....out through the side wall..... I ordered a set of the big Avon Viper Stryke AM63 tires like EZ did. The Avon AM52 has 3200 miles on it and plenty of tread left. Probably would have got 5000 or more out of it. The best part about it was he was only 6 miles from home when it went flat. He was coming home from staying with his grandma 110 miles away! |

Remember the front will stear a tad quicker - nothing freeky - but once aware, you'll get used to it and then forget it - lol - I have no problem with either tire though I would recommend the Swampy Swing arm modification for ease of tire break in ;0) - otherwise keep it between 29.5 and 31.5 - max!!!!! - at least for the first 1000 - I have about 800 on this set and they still look really pretty good - by now the former tires would start showing a tad of shoulder - I have the tops of a few snake heads rubbed and plan on really enjoying a little run up to Stinson Beach via the Panoramic Highway - the easy way to rub off strips - lol - the snakes must die! - ;0) GT - JBOTDS! Swampy where did you order your tires from. I picked up a rock on saturday at the woodward dream cruise and may need to replace the tire sooner then I planned on. Ez I cant remember but did you say they make the viper stryke in the same size as the am52. I looked on avons website but couldnt find the tires. |

I ordered them from Chapparell, They were listed in the 06 street catalog but not on the website. They come in the larger size 140-70-16, and 110-70-16 and also in the stock size. Jugallo 94, How was the dream cruise? Last year I was working down there for the week and I was glad I got to go home on Thursday, evening traffic on Woodward was incredible every night from 14 Mile all the way around Widetrac. |

Because of the weather I didnt get out there until around 4. The traffic wasnt to bad until around 6 then it started to pick up pretty good. I didnt do any burnouts because of the cut. A lot of nice cars and bikes. Are you guys comin out on sunday for the brag meeting? Thanks for the info. I will let you know about mounting and balancing the tires when I figure out what I am going to do. I may just put my stock back on for the time being. |

hey swampy....what exactly did you do to your swingarm? I debating on this tire and would love to get the bigger ones. |

The problem with the larger tires is they hit the strap of metal on the lower shock mount on the front of the swingarm when you spin them at 60 MPH or so. The cure is to move the metal strap in towards the shock so it is flush with the swingarm. There are pictures posted someplace on this site. |

Here it is
There is clearance when the tire is static, but the thing grows with speed. |

So, my quest for a running blast continues. Today the stealership finally got around to looking at it and say that the reason it won't start is the carb isn't braced by the airbox anymore and it's sucking in air from the boot. Shouldn't it at least run SOME without the carb braced?? Im taking them the airbox tomorrow to see if they can see a way to brace it. Starting to hate this bike! |

See, Vortec57, you could have fixed it yourself, Carb braced or not, if the boot is torn it may not run depending on how much air is coming in the boot and not through the carb. |

Brand new boot! so torn boot isnt the case now. The old one was cracked, tossed it for a new one. I went over that thing like crazy, almost felt like it skipped time somehow, would on occasion blow unburnt fuel out the carb, but never backfired or popped. |

Did you check over the new boot real good? Did you check for the intake to head gasket? |

Loose/improperly tightened exhaust? Boot improperly put on? Carb plug - not? Intake gasket from ring to carb throat leaking/not torqued to spec? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Vortec - Tell the dealership to try again. Many of us have run unbraced carbs without failure, or intake leaks. I know that it has been tens of thousands of miles since I changed out my unbraced intake boot... What intake setup are you currently running? (Message edited by jprovo on August 24, 2006) |
