https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/11/politics/california -wildfires-trump-tweets/index.html Mostly a bunch of Establishment California leaders lying about what Trump just said, and mocking him for politicizing the fires. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/jerry-brown- climate-change-deniers-definitely-contributing-to- the-new-abnormal-of-wildfires/ Governor Moonbeam politicizing the fires. blaming the fires, not on Global Warming, but on Global Warming Deniers! That's right! Questioning the Priesthood angers the fire gods! |

California wildfires start in the woods. Why do cities keep burning?
quote:The state’s urban sprawl and encroachment into formerly undeveloped land is the real catalyst, though, said former Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District chief Kurt Henke.

I lived there for 50 years. The typical evening news was, "It's been a wet year so the grasses will be tall, presenting an extreme danger of wildfire this summer." Or, "We're in another drought year so fire danger will be extreme." Bottom line is California burns. Always. If you build a house in the middle of it, it'll burn too. |

Facts? Actual Science? Bah! Humbug! The pessimist in me says "nothing will". There's just too much to steal with fraud. I've been hoping to miss the next mini ice age, while local weather trends have been towards more severe cold, ( a February that never went above freezing and mostly was sub zero ) and the un-fraud,un-"adjusted" temperature numbers have declined. I make no claims to Omniscience, but I did have better grades ( A) than Gore in meteorology. ( he flunked ) The predicted Sunspot activity ( how hot the Sun & high altitude cloud formation from cosmic rays flux through the diminished radiation belts ) doesn't look promising. I wonder what the rise in pollution, specifically particle counts, from the China/India/Southeast Asia/Pacific industrial growth equals in volcano eruptions? There's some good papers waiting to be written there. And called homophobic and racist if they don't toe the line for Global Warming Cult Dogma. |

Someone really bored might look back and see how far back folk here complained that California wild fires were worse because of bad, well intentioned, but naive, laws on forest/brush lands management. You'd think the legislature would have fixed those laws in the decades the problems have worsened. But you'd be wrong. It's now a more severe crime to hand out plastic straws than to deliberately murder people by giving them AIDS, and the fires burn on. |

"As California goes so goes the nation." It was disturbing when I lived there and is even more disturbing now. Californians are moving here to escape "California Crap" but are bringing enough of those despicable values to turn Arizona into the same sort of place. The fires fueled by dumb-ass laws will only make it worse. G |

https://www.iceagenow.info/lack-of-sunspots-to-bri ng-record-cold-warns-nasa-scientist/ Pretty sure this site is biased. ; ) No doubt the site is biased, just because they covered it. The surprising part to me is that it comes from a NASA scientist. I remember 15 years or so ago, there was a scientist promoting the idea that climate was tied to sunspots. He had a theory, studies of data showing the correlation, did lab work that backed the theory. As I recall it had to do with fewer sun spots resulting in less cloud formation. Not an intuitive theory, but welcome to physics. I do remember the global warmists circling the wagons to make sure that there was a huge amount of material thrown against the wall to argue that he was wrong. Of course they had to, because if he was right, it meant that the influence of CO2 was nowhere near what was being claimed. Well, that has been pretty well proven by the lack of predicted warming over the decades. Has the idea of sun spots having a controlling factor in climate been accepted at NASA? How do they do that and still cling to CO2 being the primary driver of climate? How has this not been making HUGE headlines? It's almost as if they know the CO2 theory is just a bunch of BS that is too convenient for their purposes to dismiss. |

Climate contrarian uncovers scientific error, upends major ocean warming study
quote:“Our error margins are too big now to really weigh in on the precise amount of warming that’s going on in the ocean,” Keeling said. “We really muffed the error margins.”
I still haven't seen an explanation for how the oceans are supposed to warm without first warming the atmosphere. It defies the entire greenhouse warming idea, yet it's used to explain how CO2 is warming the Earth despite what we see in our measurements of the atmosphere. I do find it entertaining that the article ends with this zinger.
quote:The study is still the first to confirm that the ocean is warming using a method independent of direct ocean temperature measurements.
I.E., never mind the fatal flaws of the study, it still confirms what we know to be true. (Message edited by SIFO on November 14, 2018) |

CA Gov. Jerry Brown Vetoed 2016 Wildfire Management Bill While CA Burned
quote:What many do not know, is that California Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bipartisan wildfire management bill in 2016, despite unanimous passage by the Legislature, 75-0 in the Assembly and 39-0 in the Senate. SB 1463 would have given local governments more say in fire-prevention efforts through the Public Utilities Commission proceeding making maps of fire hazard areas around utility lines. In a gross display of politics, this is especially pertinent given that Cal Fire and the state’s media are now blaming the largest utility in the state for the latest wildfires.
PG&E plunges 17% after disclosing an 'electric incident' just before wildfire But sure, blame global warming... |

Brown vetoed SB 1463 for duplicating an existing effort by Cal Fire, PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission to create such hazard maps showing areas of thick vegetation and high winds around utility lines. It is not likely that signing SB 1463 would have had any substantial effect on the existing batch of CA fires. |

"duplicating an existing effort by Cal Fire, PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission to create such hazard maps" Did they ever produce those maps? What if the law compelled them to? Doesn't seem like it could have hurt anything. |

Creating a map wouldn't do dick, unless someone DID something with the hazard areas. I don't see any issue with allowing localities to...oh...I dunno...MANAGE DANGER TO THEIR OWN TOWNS. Glad I'm not in Kalifornia...for soooo many reasons... |

I think we need to come to the realization that the constitution doesn’t empower the federal government to own land. We need to give the land back to the states with the exception of military bases. |

Then it's poor performance on the legislature. This isn't the first time that Congress or a state legislature, made a law then failed to fund it. The border wall is law. Lots of ideas are law, but don't happen. Not all the failures to follow through burn million$ of taxpayer properties predictably, year after year. I'm not sure who is more right here in his suggestions, but I can tell that every dollar persecuting plastic straws didn't go to preventing people from burning to death. |
