The last time i had one drop a valve I found pieces in the other cylinder from going though the intake Might be worth pulling the other head just to be safe |

It's a 42 flat slide, everything still seems to be attached to it... Shouldn't the piston pin slide out once I pulled the retaining rings? It will slide back and forth a bit, but then hits the retraining ring groove on the piston and stops... Was trying to pull it off to check clearance of the xb cylinder and had on the front with the banks frame brace I have. It is very close with the bigger fins...

Just got it after a little advice from a few friends, who also had to do a little tapping to get the piston pins out on their motors. |

Well, that answers that... Lost a big chunk of the intake valve guide(edit) on the rear cylinder... Bent the intake valve pushrod on the rear but doesn't seen to have bent the valve?! And spit the chunk out the intake on the rear head, through the intake manifold, through the rear intake valve, one small small smack against the front piston, and out the front exhaust valve, bending the front exhaust valve and pushrod... The rear cylinder itself looks to be in fine shape and no valve to piston contact even the the intake pushrod was bent... Well shit... (Message edited by no_rice on June 12, 2016) |

I take it you mean the valve guide broke, not the seat? I've always needed to use a little persuasion to get the wrist pin out. I typically use a socket slightly smaller in diameter and tap it out with a small hammer. When I do that, I'll fold up a shop rag and place it between the piston and the head studs. That holds it in place and stops any damage to the piston. I've never had to do much more that tap to the wrist pin going so I'm not worried about damaging the studs. I'd still replace the two valves even if they don't appear to be bent. Not a lot of money for the peace of mind. Plus, they'll match up nicely to your new valve guides. I know I don't need to say this, but be sure to use new wrist pin clips All in all, a fairly easy fix for not to much money. Good luck! (Message edited by Ralph on June 12, 2016) |

Yes, edited it, meant valve guide. The problem with it being a fairly easy fix, is... Now I'm in there... I was already test fitting my xb heads and cylinders... Lol. |

I knew it! (only because it happened to me at the drag strip in 99'). Almost the exact same thing, but on the rear head, ironically enough I had the same issue with the piston pin. Good luck. Whats your opinion on the Metmachex S/A? |
